SEA TE Ed Dickson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Ed Dickson isn't a major part of the Seattle passing game but he seems to be the top tight end for Russell Wilson to go to. Dickson is a veteran who can make big catches. Although the results haven't been there, he still has some fantasy value. But not enough to consider a start for Week 17 as he ranks a low-end TE2.

SEA TE Ed Dickson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Ed Dickson had a big game last week in his first action with Seattle. He scored a touchdown and had two receptions for 54 yards. It will be interesting to watch how the Seahawks use the veteran tight end and although he is not ready for a starting lineup, he does rank a TE2 for Week 9.

SEA TE Ed Dickson - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Ed Dickson takes the spot of Jimmy Graham and the veteran has been a steady performer in the NFL over the past eight seasons. This is a great opportunity for him to improve his numbers because of the potent Seahawks passing game.

Fantasy Upside

Dickson had his best year in 2011 with Baltimore but has not been much of an offensive threat or a fantasy factor since then. He replaced Greg Olsen last season and had one touchdown.

2018 Bottom Line

The numbers haven't been there even when Dickson has been in favorable situations. He is not being drafted and shouldn't be. Only if he produces early in the season should he be considered for a roster spot.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Miami Dolphins

Ed Dickson was targeted twice last week against the Raiders, but failed to catch a pass. While he remains the starter until Greg Olsen gets back, which might be in Week 12, he’s only put up more than 50 yards twice this season and has yet to find the end zone.

The Dolphins give up the fifth-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, so Dickson has some upside this week. Because of his lack of production in most games this season, it’s hard to trust him completely, but if you need a streaming option, the matchup and the opportunity should be there for Dickson.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Ed Dickson has been cold the past three weeks, averaging less than 4 catches and 26 yards per game during that span. He also has failed to score a touchdown this season and has struggled to make an impact with the exception of one big game against Detroit.

Still, Dickson has some upside as a streaming option against the Falcons this week. The Falcons have actually allowed only 1 touchdown to the tight end position this season, but with Kelvin Benjamin traded to the Bills, Dickson has a chance for increased targets.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ed Dickson only had 3 catches for 18 yards last week against the Bears in a forgettable game for the Panthers. Dickson has been inconsistent since taking over for the injured Greg Olsen after Week 2, but he’s been targeted 22 times over the past four weeks, giving him value as a streamer in deep leagues and in good matchups.

This week, Dickson faces a Bucs team that has allowed only 3 touchdowns to the tight end position this year, but they are tied for 21st in the league in total passing touchdowns allowed. Dickson has some streaming upside this week in a game that could feature a lot of passing if you have bye week issues at the position.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Chicago Bears

Ed Dickson only had 36 yards last week against the Eagles, but he was still targeted 8 times and remains a viable streaming option in good matchups due to his increased usage. Dickson has been targeted an average of 5.67 times per game over his past three outings and remains an athletic mismatch when covered by a linebacker.

This week, Dickson faces a Bears team that has been surprisingly effective against the pass this year, ranking eighth in passing yards allowed per game this year. Dickson’s targets should make him a viable streaming option, but if you have the opportunity to use someone with a better matchup, don’t hesitate to make the swap.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Ed Dickson blew up against the Lions last week with 5 catches for 175 yards. He’s only gained that many yards in three of his seven previous seasons! Dickson is benefitting from additional targets as he starts in place of an injured Greg Olsen, but he’ll need to be consistent before he’s worth every-week consideration.

This week, he faces an Eagles defense allowing 12.1 fantasy PPR points per game to the tight end position and giving up the fourth-most passing yards per game this season. With some upside in a good matchup, Dickson is worth streaming in deep leagues.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Detroit Lions

Ed Dickson had 62 yards on 3 catches against the Patriots last week, but he’s only been targeted 5 times in his two starts. There’s no reason to think he’ll suddenly become a reliable fantasy option in any league format. Detroit has only allowed 4 touchdown passes this season—only one to the tight end position.

CAR TE Ed Dickson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. New Orleans Saints

Ed Dickson has a chance to step up with Greg Olsen out for an extended period of time with a broken foot. It’s hard to trust Dickson, though. He has had opportunities in the past but never really lived up to his high potential. Dickson has some deep-league Hail Mary potential this week against the woeful Saints defense, but there should be better options available in most leagues, even if you’re streaming.
