Please help me understand the methodology behind the hot spots, especially for defense. Are the rankings solely done by avg amount of points given up by opposing defenses? I'm specifically looking at Chicago. Detroit is colored light green for a good matchup even though they were just 3-point favorites at Chicago and will probably be 6+ point favorites when they play in Detroit week 15. The Eagles are a neutral matchup even though they're currently favored by 12.5 at home against Chicago. It just doesn't seem right. I'd think they should show up as the brightest, boldest, most dangerous red. I'm not second-guessing or criticizing, just want to better understand what goes into matchup evaluations. Thanks.

well, it has nothing to do with point spreads or anything like that. It's strictly based on matchup by position. I'm not exactly sure what position you're looking at, but I can you for the Eagles, I'm going to assume it's the passing matchup. They are very good against the run and don't give up a lot of fantasy points to RBs so I'm figuring for Howard it's going to be in red. For the QB or WR, most likely neutral. So this makes some sense when you think about it, they will likely struggle to run the ball and probably at some point, will have to throw more if you assume the Eagles will play with a lead.

The position I'm looking at is defense. I was referencing the bears matchup chart for their defense.
