Preseason Week 3 Injury Updates

Dress rehearsals can sometimes prove to be costly when it comes to starting players playing in a meaningless game. This past week was no exception, as it seems Week 3 of the preseason always has significant consequences for teams as they prepare for the regular season. We’re going with a different layout for our injury content this year so that it is more easily sorted through and digestible. Let’s get into the injuries for this week.

Injury Updates, Preseason Week 3
Player Injury Recovery Timetable Potential Pickup Comments
Odell Beckham Jr. High Ankle Sprain 2-3 Weeks Sterling Shepard OBJ will continue to get treatment around the clock to get his ankle as healthy as possible. However, the Giants won’t rush him back to avoid risking re-aggravation, so continue to monitor this situation.
Spencer Ware Torn PCL/LCL Sprain Out For Season Kareem Hunt Unfortunate news for Ware as he was likely to get first shot at the lead RB role in KC. Hunt becomes an immediate pickup in all leagues and formats.
Cameron Meredith Torn ACL Out For Season -Kevin White -Kendall Hunter Meredith’s knee injury involves other structures than just his ACL, so there’s a possibility he could face an uphill battle to be ready by the start of next year. Kevin White seems like the WR next in line to get a bump, but he’ll have to prove he can stay on the field.
Julian Edelman Torn ACL Out For Season -Danny Amendola -Chris Hogan It will be difficult to fill Edelman’s role in the Patriots offense, but someone will have to step up. Who that is though is another question. Amendola makes the most sense but they could possibly push one of their pass catching RB’s out in the slot as well.
Bryce Petty Sprained MCL 1-3 Weeks. Josh McCown Petty’s statement that his knee feels unstable is usually indicative that the sprain could be more severe than we think. However, it was deemed just a grade 1 sprain, which is the least severe. He’ll wear a brace to improve stability in the knee and we should know more by end of the week.
Tyrod Taylor Concussion 1-2 Week Nathan Peterman? Tyrod will go through the concussion protocol along with Bills backup T.J. Yates, who also suffered a concussion this past week. Both will likely be available for Week 1, but no concussion recovers the same.
Paxton Lynch Sprained Shoulder 3-6 Weeks Trevor Siemian Lynch’s backup role determined for him last week, but now dealing with this injury to his throwing shoulder is definitely a concern. The way he landed is what makes this injury a multi-week injury.
Tyler Eifert Knee Tendinitis 1-2 Weeks. Day to day for now. C.J. Uzomah Here we go again. It doesn’t sound like this is anything too serious, but whenever injuries that can be chronic in nature pop up before the season, there is always some concern. Keep an eye on his status moving forward.
Demaryius Thomas Strained Groin 1-2 Weeks, day to day for now. Bennie Fowler Thomas left the game early after tweaking his groin. He was seen on the sidelines not being attended to, so hopefully, it is nothing too serious.
