KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Even with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman out, and Kadarius Toney leaving early, Marquez Valdes-Scantling still only managed to finish with one catch for 18 yards last week. He did see four targets, but the outing just shows that MVS is truly a boom-or-bust play in fantasy. He'll remain that in Week 12 in an OK matchup vs. the Rams (15th aFPA). Smith-Schuster should return, but Toney is likely out this week, so MVS's playing time should remain around the same as it has been. MVS should be viewed as a risk/reward WR5 this week.

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Los Angeles Chargers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a solid game last week, finishing 3-60-1 on four targets, scoring his first touchdown of the season. As we mentioned last week, MVS has been a hit-or-miss option lately with his last five games finishing with 90 yards, 0 yards, 111 yards, 12 yards and 60 yards. He should be a little more stable this week purely because of opportunity. Mecole Hardman has been placed on IR, and JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) is trending towards not playing in Week 11. MVS should be viewed as a lower-end WR2 or a strong WR3 play this week in an OK matchup vs. the Chargers (13th aFPA).

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a really disappointing game last week as he finished with one reception for 12 yards. Patrick Mahomes threw the ball 68 times in Week 9, and MVS only saw one target despite playing on 71 snaps (out of 100). MVS has been very hit-or-miss as his last three games have finished with yardage totals of 0, 111 and 12. He'll continue to be a boom-or-bust option in Week 10 in a favorable matchup against the Jaguars (28th aFPA). He should be viewed as a WR4.

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Tennessee Titans

Marquez Valdes-Scantling bounced back in Week 7 following a goose egg in Week 6. MVS finished with a season-high 111 yards on three receptions (four targets). MVS has been a bit of a hit-or-miss play this season, although he's usually been reliable enough to get around 50 yards. He'll have a high ceiling this week as he draws a favorable matchup against the Titans, who are 6th in aFPA to WRs this season. He carries some risk due to his floor, but MVS should still be viewed as a solid WR3 play this week.

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a rough outing last week, finishing with a big fat goose egg. He did see three targets, but failed to make a reception. He still played his usual amount, seeing 82% of the offensive snaps. It just wasn't his game. He'll look to turn things around this week, although he does get a tough matchup against the 49ers. San Francisco has allowed the 5th-fewest average fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. MVS will be in WR4 range for Week 7.

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Buffalo Bills

Marquez Valdes-Scantling tied with two other players as the team leader in targets last week with eight. As a result, he had his most productive game of the year, setting season highs in receptions (6) and receiving yards (90). MVS has now had two games in a row with 60 or more yards, and has finished with at least 40 yards in four of his five games. He's not the most productive WR, but he has been fairly consistent. This week he faces a Bills defense that's allowed the 6th-fewest average fantasy points to wide receivers. But the Chiefs vs. Bills game from last year's playoffs was an offensive showcase, so there could be an opportunity for yards. MVS should be viewed as a mid-tier WR3 option in Week 6.

KC WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Marquez Valdes-Scantling set a season-high in receiving yards last week, finishing 3-63 on five targets. Although like his other Chiefs WRs, he too has not scored a touchdown all season. In fact, only one Chiefs wide receiver has a scored a touchdown this year and it's from Justin Watson who has just two total catches. Back to MVS, he's been a decent contributor averaging 3.3 receptions for 42.0 yards. As Patrick Mahomes warned us about, the production has been very spread out among the wide receivers as Travis Kelce and Clyde Edwards-Helaire hog the touchdowns. MVS isn't much more than a WR4 in a decent matchup vs. the Raiders this week.
