NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Las Vegas Raiders

Daniel Jones is set to return this week after battling an injury earlier in the season. Jones wasn’t very good before he was injured, tossing six interceptions in four games prior to his Week 5 injury against the Dolphins. He was averaging 30 rushing yards per game, so there’s some upside there, but he really only has one decent fantasy start this season, against the lowly Cardinals in Week 2.

The Raiders actually rank fourth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, so it’s not an easy return for Jones. Still, with his potential for rushing production and a tough bye week, Jones gets pushed into streaming territory. He’s a solid QB2 or desperation start if you’re struggling with injuries or byes this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Buffalo Bills

Daniel Jones had another horrible game last week in yet another lopsided loss. The Dolphins held Jones to just 119 passing yards and 24 yards on the ground, and he was sacked seven times. Keep Jones on the bench this week in a tough matchup against the Bills. The Buffalo defense ranks number one in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Jones is also banged up. Whether he starts or it’s Tyrod Taylor under center, steer clear of the Giants’ passing game if possible.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Miami Dolphins

Daniel Jones had a nice fantasy outing in Week 2 against the Cardinals, but he’s been otherwise terrible this season. In his other three games, he has zero touchdowns and six interceptions. Last week, he was sacked 10 times by the Seattle defense in a lopsided loss on Monday night.

Jones has a nice matchup this week against the Dolphins, who rank 22nd in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. The Dolphins also have a great offense, which might force the Giants to throw the ball more to keep up, but it’s hard to trust Jones after a dismal start to the season. We have him ranked as a QB2 option and he should really only be considered in starting lineups in 2QB formats. Be wary.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Daniel Jones struggled last week against a tough 49ers defense, ending up throwing for just 137 yards and a pick, and rushing for only five yards. Jones isn’t prolific enough of a passer to not be running the ball, and fantasy managers should be concerned about two complete duds out of three games. However, Jones delivering horrible outings against the Cowboys and 49ers - both great defenses - probably can be somewhat excused.

This week, expect Jones to get back on track against the Seahawks. Seattle gave up a nice fantasy day to Andy Dalton last week and ranks 28th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. It’s hard to bank on the Giants’ offense so far this year, but the Seahawks should be able to keep New York passing the ball, and there’s nothing to indicate Seattle can stop opposing teams from doing that well. We have Jones ranked as a fringe-QB1 option this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at San Francisco 49ers

Daniel Jones stumbled through the first six quarters of the season and then came on fire in the second half of a come-from-behind victory over the Cardinals last week. He finished the game with 321 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick through the air, and he added 59 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well. Those are the kinds of numbers we were hoping to see from Jones when we drafted him as a fringe-QB1 option.

This week, Jones still brings the rushing upside, but he’s a risky start on Thursday night against a ferocious 49ers defense. San Francisco has already forced four interceptions through two games this season and they sacked Kenny Pickett five times in Week 1. Jones’s running ability makes him worth streaming or QB2 consideration, but we have him ranked outside of QB1 territory this week. Look elsewhere if you can for this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Arizona Cardinals

Daniel Jones and the rest of the Giants team forgot to show up Sunday night as they were shut out by the Cowboys. Jones was sacked a ridiculous seven times in the opener, and was held to just 104 yards and a pair of interceptions. He added 43 yards on the ground, but it was an overall wildly disappointing game for the Giants and for fantasy managers who started any of their key pieces.

This week, Jones can’t possibly do worse against a Cardinals defense that allowed Sam Howell to be the fantasy QB12 in Week 1. Expect a rebound game for Jones, and his rushing production always gives him a little extra upside. We have him ranked as a fringe QB1 this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Daniel Jones had a nice year in 2022, solidifying his status as the starting quarterback, making the playoffs, and earning a nice new contract in the offseason. He also finished as the QB9 in fantasy leagues, largely aided by 708 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground under first-time head coach Brian Daboll. Entering his second season with Daboll at the helm, there’s no reason to think Jones won’t at least continue what he started last year.

He starts 2023 with a tilt against a tough Dallas defense. The Cowboys ranked third in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks last season and feature one of the best pass-rushers in the game in Micah Parsons. Temper expectations for Jones in a tough matchup, but his rushing production should allow him to finish with at least fringe-QB1 numbers.
