Scouting report

HOU QB Kyle Allen - Week 13 fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Cleveland Browns

Kyle Allen made his Texans debut last week against the Dolphins and it went about as well as you'd expect. Allen went 26/39 for just 215 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He didn't exactly change things much on offense from Davis Mills. The Texans are still bad and they face a good defense in the Cleveland Browns this week. Allen really doesn't even need to be on a fantasy roster, let alone the bench.

WAS QB Kyle Allen - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Philadelphia Eagles

The Washington QB situation is a bit of a mess heading into Week 15. Taylor Heinicke tested positive for COVID, and won't play this week which leaves Kyle Allen. But Allen is already on the COVID list, and will need to be cleared ahead of Tuesday's matchup. If Allen can't go, then the team has Kyle Shurmur who could start. The team also signed veteran Garrett Gilbert on Friday just in case. Reporters seemed conflicted on who would start between Shurmur or Gilbert. Overall, we'd probably just avoid this situation in Week 15.

WAS QB Kyle Allen - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New York Giants

Before Washington's bye, Kyle Allen had two consecutive games with two touchdowns. Oddly enough, one of those games was against the Giants, the same team he'll face in Week 9. In that game, Allen had 280 yards with two scores and two turnovers. We're predicting slightly worse numbers than that, making Allen a not-so-great fantasy option. He's currently outside the top 20 quarterbacks in our Week 9 rankings.

WAS QB Kyle Allen - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Kyle Allen looked good at times and bad at times last week. He finished with 280 yards and two touchdowns, which is nice, but added two turnovers (1 INT, 1 FUM) to the performance. This was just the second time all season a Washington quarterback scored two touchdowns in a game, so don't expect this production weekly. While Allen showed some promise, he's still not a strong streaming option for fantasy purposes. We have him projected in the bottom-tier of quarterbacks despite a favorable matchup against the Cowboys in Week 7.

WAS QB Kyle Allen - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at New York Giants

Kyle Allen suffered an injury right before halftime, and never returned despite being medically cleared to do so. Despite Washington keeping Alex Smith in last week, Allen is expected to start for Washington again in Week 6. However, he'll be a poor quarterback option. Washington struggled to move the ball last week, as they have all season. To make matters worse, the Giants have actually held opposing quarterbacks in check this season (5th in aFPA). Allen is among the worst quarterback options available this week.

WAS QB Kyle Allen - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Washington benched Dwayne Haskins after a disappointing start to 2020, and will now start Kyle Allen. Don't expect Allen to suddenly turn Washington into a high-powered offense. Haskins struggled for a reason, and that's because there's not much talent surrounding him on this offense. Allen might be an upgrade as he showed some promise last season in Carolina. But he's a risky play this week, especially in a tough matchup against the Rams who are fourth in aFPA. Allen is among the worst quarterback options available in Week 5.

CAR QB Kyle Allen - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Atlanta Falcons

Kyle Allen had a pretty good fantasy outing against Washington last week, throwing for 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 22 yards and another score on the ground. He only threw one interception, but he fumbled twice. He now has eight fumbles on the season and he’s been sacked 16 times over his past three games. Allen has been inconsistent and difficult to get a read on this year, making him a volatile fantasy option.

This week, he’ll face a Falcons defense that ranks 28th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this season. At first glance, it’s a nice matchup, but this same defense force four interceptions on him just three weeks ago. Allen has upside, but is too risky to count on in most leagues. He should be considered a fringe QB2 option at best this week.
