DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New York Giants

If not now, when? That is the question Tony Pollard managers are asking heading into Week 10. Pollard is the RB21 in fantasy points per game and was only the RB28 last week. The Eagles are a stiff out for any running back at present, but Pollard managers are probably past such mitigation.

The Giants represent a wonderful opportunity for Pollard to break out of his slump. They rank 23rd in aFPA to running backs this season. We should expect mid-range RB1 numbers this week. But if we do not get them, it may be time to seriously talk about Tony.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles

Tony Pollard continues to underwhelm in fantasy, despite playing on a healthy number of snaps and seeing a good number of opportunities. In a game that quickly became a blowout against the Rams, Pollard was held to 53 yards on 12 rushing attempts, and caught his solitary target for two yards. His 53 yards on the ground were his most since Week 3, and he hasn’t scored a touchdown since the opening week of the season. Pollard had just six points in Half-PPR scoring against the Rams, and is averaging just 12.16 this season.

Things are not likely to get a lot easier for Pollard this week, with a matchup against the Eagles on the slate. No team has been less welcoming to fantasy running backs than the Eagles this year, as evidenced by their ranking first in aFPA to the position. You are certainly not dropping Pollard, but you shouldn’t expect a ceiling above a high-end RB2 this week.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Tony Pollard is certainly seeing a ton of work in 2023, averaging a robust 16 rushing attempts and 4.2 receptions per outing. He hasn't been bad in fantasy, although his fantasy managers were probably hoping for better than the RB15 in points per game.

Pollard doesn't have the easiest matchup in the world this week, with the Rams ranking ninth in aFPA to running backs. Still, his workload alone makes him a player just waiting to breakout, so you should treat him as a mid-level RB1 this week.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Los Angeles Chargers

Week 5 was another disappointing outing for Tony Pollard, as he saw just 12 touches for a combined 64 yards from scrimmage. His eight rushing attempts garnered just 29 yards, while he added another 35 on four receptions. Pollard managed 6.4 Half-PPR points and has 13.9 combined in his last two. He's the RB18 in fantasy points per game this season.

Pollard should see something approaching his normal complement of touches against the Chargers in Week 6, and if he does it's not a matchup to scare Pollard managers too much. The Chargers rank 19th in aFPA to running backs this season. Pollard should be viewed as a solid RB1 option this week.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers

Tony Pollard barely flexed his muscles in Week 4 against a lackluster Patriots outfit. He carried the ball 11 times for 47 yards and amassed another 13 yards on three receptions. This heavy workload allowed him to canter to the RB22 spot for the week, a far cry from his RB13 in Half-PPR points per game standing in 2023.

Pollard should be back on the RB1 radar in Week 5 in an NFC superpowers clash with the 49ers in Santa Clara. The home side rank 15th in aFPA to running backs this season. If Pollard reaches his season average of 22 touches in this game, he should be able to produce for his fantasy managers.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New England Patriots

It was a busy week for Tony Pollard against the Cardinals, without being particularly fantasy-fruitful. Pollard carried the ball 23 times for 122 yards in Week 3, adding minus one yard on three receptions, earning 13.6 Half PPR points. He finished as the RB14, but he remains the RB8 in points per game so far in 2023.

Pollard has a horrendous matchup against the miserly New England Patriots defense in Week 4. The Patriots rank 1st in aFPA allowed to tailbacks this season, but Pollard's role as a true workhorse keeps him firmly in the elite RB tier.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Arizona Cardinals

Week 2 was a quiet week for Tony Pollard, despite a healthy workload against the New York Jets. Pollard's 25 carries brought him 72 rushing yards, while his seven grabs from eight targets brought another 37 yards. He failed to find the end zone, however, and only posted RB15 numbers with 16.4 Half PPR points. He's still the RB4 overall to start the season.

Pollard is not a player that fantasy managers should consider sitting, at present. And Week 3 against the Cardinals is no exception. Pollard's match-up is one of the very best for running backs across the league this week, and it should surprise no one if Pollard is among the leading fantasy backs in Week 3.
