Scouting report

SF RB Tevin Coleman - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Atlanta Falcons

Tevin Coleman was signed off the scrap heap and elevated to the active roster last week. He proceeded to rush for 23 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, and added three receptions, 44 yards, and a touchdown receiving.

Coleman has a great matchup this week against an Atlanta defense that ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing running backs. While he’ll still continue to share time with Jeff Wilson, his status is worth monitoring going forward. Also, be sure to check his status on the roster, given he's already bounced back and forth on the practice squad once this week. Keep an eye on him, but you can let someone else use all their FAAB on him for now.

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Jacksonville
Tevin Coleman had only eight carries last week but it did produce 50 yards. He has 50+ yards in each of his last three games. However, rookie starter Michael Carter returned to the lineup last week. This will cut into Coleman's playing time and numbers.

Coleman faces Jacksonville who is ranked 10th in aFPA to running backs. Playing time will be the key for Coleman as he has been a nice late-season pickup, but keep him on the bench for Week 16.

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Philadelphia
With rookie RB Michael Carter out, Tevin Coleman has taken over as the No. 1 back for the Jets. He rushed 16 times for 67 yards and played 45% of the snaps. The Jets offense is still a work in progress.

Coleman faces the Eagles who are ranked 19th in aFPA to running backs. We expect Coleman to be the primary ball carrier while Ty Johnson is more involved in the passing game.

Start Coleman as an RB3 or flex for Week 13. He is a good waiver wire pickup to help fill up your roster for the next couple of weeks.

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Houston
Veteran Tevin Coleman will see time with Ty Johnson as rookie Michael Carter is out for a couple of weeks. Coleman has 30 carries for 118 yards on the season and five receptions as well.

The Jets face the Texans who ranked 19th in aFPA to running backs. Coleman is the highest-ranked back for New York in standard leagues but not enough to warrant a start. Keep Coleman on the bench.

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. New England
It truly appears the Jets will be doing a running back-by-committee although Tevin Coleman is the lead back at this point. He had nine carries for 24 yards as New York's running game struggled. It could be like this for a while until the Jets figure out who they are on offense.

Coleman faces the Patriots who gave up only 74 yards on the ground last week against Miami. New England's defense is expected to be a top 10 unit and especially good against the run.

No Jets running backs should be in your lineup for Week 2 including Coleman. In fact, the best fantasy running back from this team will probably be Michael Carter as they should get the rookie more touches every week. They expect him to be the running back of the future. Keep Coleman on the bench.

NYJ RB Tevin Coleman - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Carolina
The veteran Tevin Coleman will be the official starter at running back for the Jets which gives him some short-term value. We should see running back by committee to start the season as they get the rookie Michael Carter and Ty Johnson carries.

We know that Coleman is capable of playing in the league but we don't know how good the Jets' offense will be. They face the Panthers who were ranked 14th in aFPA to running backs last season.

Coleman should start on the bench for Week 1. We need to see how the Jets use their running backs and Coleman is the highest-ranked back on the team to start, he won't get enough numbers to warrant a fantasy start.

SF RB Tevin Coleman - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Arizona Cardinals

Tevin Coleman had just three carries for 11 yards last week, splitting time with the other 47 running backs on the 49ers’ roster. With Raheem Mostert shut down, Coleman could get some of the workload he got last week, but that’s a lot to bank on when Jeff Wilson is the likely lead back and Jerick McKinnon is still getting snaps. Leave him on waivers.
