Scouting report

BUF WR Percy Harvin - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Bengals
It was a rough week for Percy Harvin who was the No. 1 Bills receiver on the depth chart. He had four targets which produced zero catches. Harvin's production is more of a Bills offensive issue, but it definitely hurts his value.

It is a decent matchup for Harvin in Week 6 against the Bengals who are 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers. Still, with starting QB Tyrod Taylor probably out, the Bills offensive skill players will struggle. Keep Harvin on the bench this week.

BUF WR Percy Harvin - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Titans

Although Percy Harvin tied his season-high for targets (8) last week, he put up his worst numbers of the season with only three catches for 26 yards. We will chalk this up as just a bad day because everything (including the targets) was pointing towards good fantasy numbers.

The availability of Sammy Watkins will be a key this week. It appears he won't play again, which makes Harvin the No. 1 wide receiver against the Titans. Tennessee is 17th in aFPA to wide receivers, so it's not much of an advantage either way. Start Harvin as a solid WR3 or flex for Week 5. As long as the targets are there again, the numbers should be better.

BUF WR Percy Harvin - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs New York Giants

So far, Percy Harvin has decent 2015 numbers. He is averaging six targets per game, which is on par with a No. 2 wide receiver. With Sammy Watkins probably out on Sunday, Harvin now becomes the No. 1, which is something he is familiar with having played the role on other teams.

Even with the upgrade and increased target potential, the Bills passing game isn't Green Bay or Denver. The Giants are 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers, so they won't be the reason Harvin succeeds or fails. It will come down to how many times QB Tyrod Taylor targets Harvin. It should be enough for some fantasy impact, but Harvin ranks a high-end WR3 for Week 4.

BUF WR Percy Harvin - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Dolphins
After a good start to his Bills career, Percy Harvin's numbers regressed in Week 2. He actually had the same amount of catches, but his yardage was lower and he did not reach the end zone. He has a decent matchup against the Dolphins and was able to practice this week, so those are positives. That said, he still is just not a good fantasy play yet. Keep him on the bench for Week 3.

BUF WR Percy Harvin - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Patriots

Percy Harvin made an immediate impact with the only pass reception for a Buffalo touchdown in Week 1. He was also the Bills leading receiver with 5 catches on 5 targets. You have to wonder if QB Tyrod Taylor feels more comfortable with the veteran and Harving has been a No. 1 receiver during his career.

The matchup this week is decent as the Bills face the Patriots pass defense, but the conservative offense will probably show up in Week 2 again. Harvin is still a bench player at this point, but it will be interesting to watch his relationship with Taylor early in the season.

BUF WR Percy Harvin - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Percy Harvin joins his third team in the last two seasons, but might have have found a place where he can really excel in Buffalo. The potential is there as he had at least 60 catches every year he was in Minnesota. His situation with the Bills could lead to some very good fantasy numbers in 2015.

Fantasy Downside
Harvin has had his share of health issues during his career, including hip surgery which he was still recovering from during training camp. There also have been some off the field issues with Harvin and his attitude. He is 27 years old, so the Bills are hoping he has matured and those past issues won't be relevant this season. Another problem for all of the Bills receivers is quarterback play. Tyrod Taylor won the job, but how effective will he be?

Bottom Line
Harvin has a great chance to make a fantasy impact this season. There are some concerns, but the quarterback play might be the one that makes the biggest difference for Harvin. His ADP is 167, which puts him the late rounds, but if the QB play in Buffalo is good and Harvin stays healthy, he could be a bargain.

NYJ WR Percy Harvin - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Harvin vs Patriots

Percy Harvin is struggling with an ankle injury and it showed last week with zero catches and three targets. He has been limited in practice this week so even though he is expected to play, his impact on the Jets' offense will be limited.

The Patriots are 8th in aFPA to wide receivers so it's not a great matchup either. Keep Harvin on the bench because of the injury, matchup and the fact that Eric Decker has been Geno Smith's favorite wide receiver for most of the season.
