Scouting report

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Myles Gaskin ended up having a decent role in Week 5. He ran four times for nine yards while seeing five targets and catching three passes for 24 yards. It's the first time Gaskin has seen playing time since Week 1, but his usage is interesting considering he saw more touches (7) than Chase Edmonds (1). Gaskin also played on three more snaps than Edmonds. If Gaskin continues to see five targets, he could have some decent value in PPR formats. His stock would also rise if Raheem Mostert (knee) is unable to go. As of now though, we wouldn't recommend Gaskin in Week 6 against the Vikings.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Tennessee Titans

Myles Gaskin got fantasy owners through some tough times in the middle of the season, but he's unfortunately taken a back seat later in the year. Last week was the worst as he played a season-low 31% of the offensive snaps. It's two weeks in a row he's played below 40% after averaging 56% in the 13 games prior. It just doesn't look like there's enough of a role for Gaskin moving forward, so we certainly wouldn't trust him in your fantasy championship in Week 17.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New Orleans Saints

Myles Gaskin seemingly lost his starting role last week to Duke Johnson. Johnson finished with 23 touches compared to Gaskins' 10. Gaskin did have 54 yards, but the bulk of that came on a single 30-yard run. The worrying part is Gaskin finished with zero targets, especially in a game that didn't feature Jaylen Waddle. Gaskin also played on just 37% of the offensive snaps, his lowest mark since Week 6. Gaskin not only has a reduced role but also has a tough matchup vs. the Saints this week. It's hard to see Gaskin having enough value in Week 16 to warrant a start. Gaskin had a few good games that may have gotten you to the fantasy playoffs, but it's probably best to look elsewhere at RB in Week 16.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

UPDATE: Gaskin has been taken off the COVID/Reserve list, so he'll play in Week 15.

Myles Gaskin was placed on the Dolphins' COVID/Reserve list this week, although he's vaccinated so there's a chance he's able to play vs. the Jets. The Dolphins' RB situation is a mess as Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, and Phillip Lindsay are all on the COVID list, and Malcolm Brown has returned to practice this week. There's also the presence of Duke Johnson. Gaskin has been a solid fantasy option throughout the year, but fantasy owners will need to pay close attention this week to see who is coming off the COVID list, and who is active on Sunday. Assuming Gaskin is off the COVID list and active for Week 15, we like him as a solid flex play in a favorable matchup vs. the Jets.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. New York Giants

There was some good news and bad news regarding Myles Gaskin's Week 12 performance. The good news is he had 18 touches for 52 yards and two touchdowns. The bad news is he played on 50% of the offensive snaps, his lowest mark since Week 6 and his third-lowest mark this season. That's because of the arrival of Phillip Lindsay, who played on 20% of the snaps and finished with 12 carries. While that looks bad on paper, it's important to note the Dolphins played in a blowout and nine of Lindsay's 12 carries came on the Dolphins' final two drives of the game. Gaskin still appears to be the leader in this backfield, although Lindsay will certainly demand touches of his own. Gaskin will draw a favorable matchup vs. the Giants this week, who have given up the third-most average fantasy points to running backs. We like him as a lower-end RB2 play this week.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Carolina Panthers

Myles Gaskin continues to be a touch magnet as he finished last week with 26 touches (23 carries, 3 receptions). He also managed 96 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in one of his more productive games of the season. In fact, he set a season-high of 89 rush yards. Gaskin's overall production has been somewhat of a roller coaster this year, but his role has been pretty steady over the past five games ever since Malcolm Brown's injury. He's averaged over 20 touches per game in that span, which means he's usually good to finish with at least 60 scrimmage yards, with a decent chance for a TD. He gets a really tough matchup against the Panthers this week, a defense that's allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. Still, he should get enough touches to warrant a start, and fantasy owners should him as a solid RB2 play.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New York Jets

Myles Gaskin's usage has gone up following Malcolm Brown's injury, but his production on the ground is lacking. In his last three starts (games since Brown has been out), Gaskins has rushed 46 times for 101 yards, barely above two yards per carry. He usually makes up for the lack of rush yards with receiving stats, but he caught just one pass for 14 yards last week. Things should get better for Gaskin in Week 11 as he draws a favorable matchup against the Jets. New York has given up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this year. The Jets have shockingly given up a league-high 17 touchdowns to running backs on the ground, which is five more than any other team (with an additional three receiving TDs given up to RBs). With a favorable matchup, Gaskin should be viewed as a low-end RB2 play this week.
