MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

UPDATE: Matt Breida was placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list and will not play this week.

Matt Breida was once again out-shined by a different Miami back last week despite another injury to the backfield. As fate would have it, that back who shined last week, DeAndre Washington, is also hurt. The Dolphins have Myles Gaskin eligible to return from IR, Washington listed as DNP this week, and Salvon Ahmed limited. Breida would have some flex appeal if Gaskin, Washington and Ahmed are all out. Otherwise, he'll likely play backup duty to one, if not all of them.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New York Jets

UPDATE: Salvon Ahmed has officially been ruled out. This leaves Matt Breida, Patrick Laird and potentially DeAndre Washington as a three-headed monster of nothing. Even though Breida is in position for touches, it's not promising when Miami hasn't been utilizing him all season long. Breida should be viewed as a desperation flex play.

Matt Breida may have some relevance this week if a few things go his way. Myles Gaskin is eligible to return from IR, but will likely miss Week 12. Salvon Ahmed has also missed some practices with a shoulder injury. If both Gaskin and Ahmed are out, then Breida will have some flex appeal in a favorable matchup against the Jets (No. 23 aFPA). However, if either Gaskin or Ahmed plays, then Breida offers little to no fantasy appeal.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Denver Broncos

Matt Breida likely makes his return to the Dolphins' lineup this week, but his role is somewhat unclear. Salvon Ahmed shined in Breida's absence, seeing 21 carries last week. Breida is the more well-known name, but the Dolphins have used him sparingly throughout the season (5.5 average touches per game). However, things are different now with Myles Gaskin and Jordan Howard out of the picture. Logic tells us Ahmed should get more opportunity in Week 11, but it's entirely possible the Dolphins lean on Breida now that he's back in the lineup. Still, Breida isn't much more than a desperation flex play in Week 11.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Arizona Cardinals

Matt Breida hasn't been practicing this week with a hamstring injury and may not play. If he is active, he gets a boost due to the absence of Myles Gaskin. On the other hand, he may be limited with his snaps due to his injury. The Dolphins also have Jordan Howard and Patrick Laird who could steal touches. Breida is mostly off the fantasy radar this week.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Matt Breida totaled 22 scrimmage yards last week while playing on just 29% of the offensive snaps. The Dolphins mixed in Patrick Laird (11%) and Lynn Bowden (9%) in the backfield last week, complicating Breida's usage for future games. As of now, Breida doesn't offer much value in fantasy.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New York Jets

Matt Breida was slightly more involved last week with Jordan Howard inactive. Breida saw a season-high 10 touches as well as a season-high in playing time (31%). He finished with 59 scrimmage yards, but that's slightly altered from a lone reception he took for 31 yards. Breida is just on the outside of being valuable, making him a weak flex play at best. He gets a favorable matchup this week, but Myles Gaskin is the back to own in Miami.

MIA RB Matt Breida - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers

Matt Breida saw a season-high 48 scrimmage yards last week as well as a season-high three receptions. Still, his role didn't change too much in terms of playing time. He had two receiving yards total heading into that game, and has 72 yards on the ground all season. He's not relevant for fantasy purposes.
