PIT QB Landry Jones - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Cleveland Browns

Look for Landry Jones to get the majority of the snaps this week for the Steelers. But he'll be playing without LeVeon Bell and Antonio Brown. Even against a bad Cleveland pass defense, that isn't going to be enough to help you.

PIT QB Landry Jones - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Cleveland
Landry Jones will get the start for the Steelers against the Browns in the regular season finale with the game rendered meaningless in the playoff seedings. In his only other start this season in Week 7 against New England, Jones threw for 281 yards and a touchdown with one interception. But, he also was working with Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell in that game. They won't be playing, either, leaving Jones with precious few weapons with which to work. Look for a run-heavy game plan with Jones putting the ball in the air only when needed as the Steelers try to get out of this game injury-free. There will be better starting options available than Jones despite a soft matchup.

PIT QB Landry Jones - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. New England
Landry Jones has thrown 56 career passes in the regular season, completing 32 for 513 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. In his lone start-to-finish start last season, he threw for 209 yards and a touchdown at Kansas City. But he's been better in spot play at home, including throwing for 168 yards and two scores in just over a quarter of play in a win over Arizona. He'll have Le'Veon Bell to lean on, as well as Antonio Brown. New England has given up at least 244 yards passing in five of six games and eight TD passes. Obviously, Jones shouldn't be in your lineup, but he should be competent enough to keep everyone around him viable this week.

PIT QB Landry Jones - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Jones heads into training camp as the frontrunner ahead of veteran Bruce Gradkowski for the No. 2 job in Pittsburgh. Jones did some good things last year at times in his first NFL action. He threw for 209 yards and a score in a tough spot in his first career start at Kansas City, one of the toughest road venues in the NFL. If Jones holds off Gradkowski, he's worth a handcuff to Roethlisberger, especially given the offensive talent around him.

PIT QB Landry Jones - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cleveland
Jones replaced Ben Roethlisberger late in last week's win over Oakland and was effective, continuing to feed Antonio Brown to get the Steelers into position for a game-winning field goal. He'll get the start this week against the Browns, who might be without Joe Haden and Donte Whitner, but the Steelers figure to attack Cleveland's atrocious run defense. Jones threw for 209 yards and a touchdown in his last start at Kansas City. I would look for similar numbers in this one.

PIT QB Landry Jones - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Kansas City
As of this writing, I'm 90 percent sure Jones will get the start against the Chiefs after throwing for 168 yards and two scores in just over a quarter last week in relief of Mike Vick. With the weapons the Steelers have around him, Jones has an opportunity to do well at Kansas City. The Chiefs have given up 14 passing touchdowns this season and rank 30th in the league in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Jones might not be worth a fantasy start, but he should make Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant relevant this week.
