LAC RB Kenneth Farrow - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

As SBNation pointed out, Kenneth Farrow, an undrafted free agent, saw his first meaningful NFL action last season in Week 2, getting four carries against the Jaguars after Danny Woodhead went down with a season-ending knee injury. Injuries opened the door for Farrow to make the team, they opened the door for him to get NFL carries, and they eventually opened the door for him to become the starter in Week 15 against the Raiders. Farrow was injured just a week later against the Browns and placed on IR.

Fantasy Downside

Farrow gained just 192 yards on 60 carries, good for 3.2 yards per carry. The offensive line play wasn't great, but Farrow did nothing to distinguish himself with his own effort.

2017 Bottom Line

With Branden Oliver back from the injury that sidelined him last year, Farrow falls down the pecking order behind Oliver and starter Melvin Gordon. Assuming he beats out Kenjon Barner and Andre Williams, Farrow's value is totally dependent on the health of the others on the roster.

SD RB Kenneth Farrow - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Cleveland
Kenneth Farrow got about two thirds of the carries last week, running 14 times for 39 yards. He did fumble twice and gave up seven carries to Ronnie Hillman. Farrow added two catches for 14 yards.

Farrow gets a nice matchup this week against the Browns, who are 31st in allowing fantasy points to RBs. There's a chance Melvin Gordon could return for this contest, which would obviously put a damper on Farrow's workload. Despite the great matchup, Farrow is ranked just 24th this week, meaning we see some limitations in his potential. He's a low-end RB2 play unless Gordon returns, so keep an eye on the situation.

SD RB Kenneth Farrow - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Oakland
With Melvin Gordon battling a hip injury, Kenneth Farrow is poised to take over the lead back duties for this week (and possibly even longer). Farrow ran 16 times for 55 yards last week and added six catches for 23 yards.

Farrow gets a real nice matchup against Oakland in Week 15, who is 29th in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Ronnie Hillman will likely factor into the offense this week and take away some work from Farrow, however. That could especially be in the passing game, where the team may trust Hillman more as a blocker. If you keep up on our news, you may recognize Farrow's name from this summer. The team likes his ability, so it's not out of the question he'll get his share of work. Farrow comes in 19th in our RB rankings this week, making him a potential RB2 candidate. These type of plays can be risky - especially in the fantasy playoffs - but if you're out of options, Farrow at least gives you some potential in terms of workload.
