Scouting report

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Jerick McKinnon only played on 22 snaps last week, but he made them count. He scored on a trick play passing touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Outside of the scores, McKinnon didn't do much, though, and that was with Isiah Pacheco inactive. Pacheco is back this week, so McKinnon likely won't get many opportunities. He's not much more than a Hail Mary play this week in the hopes he scores a touchdown.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at New England Patriots

Jerick McKinnon saw his role increase a bit last week with Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) ruled out. McKinnon ran four times for 19 yards with a touchdown, and caught three passes for 18 yards. McKinnon played on 45% of the offensive snaps, a new season high for him. He was right behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire (48%) in playing time, although CEH had more total touches (13). Expect a similar role for McKinnon this week, assuming Pacheco misses more time. He'll draw a tough matchup vs. the Patriots (3rd aFPA), although New England's defense is more lenient to receiving backs vs. pure runners. McKinnon should be viewed as an RB3/flex option in Week 15, assuming Pacheco is out again.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Jerick McKinnon made himself relevant for the first time in a while during the Chiefs' last game in Week 9. He only ran once for two yards, but he caught two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. He also had a kick return for 20 yards. McKinnon came into the season with a lot of hype due to his breakout performance at the end of last year, but he simply has not lived up to it. He can be avoided in a tough Week 11 matchup vs. the Eagles (1st aFPA).

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Miami Dolphins

Jerick McKinnon played a season-high 41% of the offensive snaps last week, but didn't turn that playing time into production. He ran twice for negative two yards and caught one pass for 11 yards. McKinnon sees a lot of playing time, but he simply isn't involved in the offense. We'd avoid him in Week 9 despite a favorable matchup vs. the Dolphins.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Jerick McKinnon saw a season-high five targets last week, finishing with three catches for 20 yards. His offensive snaps remained the same, so he didn't really have an increased role, he just happened to see a few more targets. McKinnon has finished below 30 scrimmage yards in every game, so he's not really being utilized enough to make him a reliable fantasy player. We'd avoid him in Week 7 vs. the Chargers.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Denver Broncos

The Chiefs simply aren't using Jerick McKinnon this year like they were in 2022. Last season, McKinnon averaged 3.3 receptions for 30.1 receiving yards per game. But this year he's averaging just 1.8 receptions for 14.2 receiving yards, and he's obviously not keeping up his touchdown production from a year ago. McKinnon is seeing a decent amount of playing time, but he's not getting enough touches to make him relevant in fantasy. We'd avoid him in Week 6 despite a favorable matchup against the Broncos (32nd aFPA).

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Minnesota Vikings

Jerick McKinnon's playing time has remained consistent, seeing 22 offensive snaps for three consecutive games (around 30% for each game), but his production just hasn't been there. McKinnon caught no passes in Week 4 and has just seven total receptions through four games. Until something changes, McKinnon can be ignored in fantasy.
