Scouting report

by Scot Berggren

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Jacksonville
Houston QBs threw the ball 41 times in the loss to the Colts last Thursday, but Garrett Graham finished with just an eight-yard reception. There is no reason for him to be taking up a spot on your fantasy roster.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Indianapolis
Despite being targeted six times in the loss to the Falcons last week, Garrett Graham caught just a six-yard pass. Even C.J. Fideorowicz benefited from the 57 throws by Texans QBs by catching three passes, including a TD. In four games this season, Graham has three receptions and should not be taking up a roster spot.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Atlanta
Even with Ryan Mallett throwing 39 passes last week, Garrett Graham was only targeted once, resulting in a nine-yard catch. There is no reason for him to be taking up a fantasy roster.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Tampa Bay
Garrett Graham caught only one pass last week against Carolina, but it was a seven-yard score where he did a nice job of keeping his feet inbounds after a one-handed grab. Ryan Mallett looked Graham’s way four other times, but the two didn't connect. Despite the touchdown, there should be better TE options available.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Carolina
Even though Ryan Griffin will be out for a few games with a sprained MCL, there is no reason for Garrett Graham to be on a fantasy roster.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Kansas City
After missing some time last season, Garrett Graham is healthy and back as the starting TE for Houston. He finished 2014 with just 18 receptions, but may get some extra looks from QB Brian Hoyer with Arian Foster not around to provide a ground game presence. That said, there has to be a better TE to insert into your fantasy lineup this week.

HOU TE Garrett Graham - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
According to ESPN.com, Garrett Graham is a player to watch on the Texans offense. The Texans tight ends had trouble getting open last year, and Houston consequently targeted tight ends less than any other team in the league. This was a surprising fact because of how tight end-friendly Bill O’Brien’s offense has been in the past. ESPN.com further noted Graham looked impressive in camp, getting open with regularity, which bodes well for his season.

Fantasy Downside
The Texans tight ends were not very productive during the 2014 season, which limited Graham's production. In addition, the presence of C.J. Fiedorowicz, a third-round draft pick last season, could be another limiting factor this year.

Bottom Line
The Texans might be expecting a big jump from their tight ends, but that doesn't mean you should consider Graham a breakout threat. I'll suggest going with another Graham (like Jimmy, in Seattle).
