Scouting report

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Seattle Seahawks
Diontae Johnson was held to two receptions for 15 yards last week after being the Steelers' main target the previous four weeks. Johnson is still a target machine most games and with QB Mason Rudolph playing better last week, maybe we can see more involvement for Johnson.

Johnson faces Seattle who are ranked fifth in aFPA to wide receivers. The Steelers offense was good last week, but let's not forget how bad it has been most games.

Start Johnson for Week 17, but only as a WR3 or Flex. Will be tough sledding on the road for Pittsburgh.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Diontae Johnson didn't score a touchdown last season, but scored one last week which makes it three straight games with a touchdown. He also had four receptions for 62 yards. Johnson has not been getting the catches we are used to, but he has been the Steelers best receiver during this stretch that has seen the offense struggle as a whole.

Johnson faces the Bengals who are ranked 25th in aFPA to wide receivers. He had four catches for 50 yards in the first meeting with Cincy. With the Steelers quarterback issues, that might be his ceiling.

Start Johnson for Week 16 but only as a WR3 or Flex. The lack of receptions compared to what he usually gets has limited his fantasy production.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Indianapolis Colts
Diontae Johnson had a touchdown for the second straight game, but his other numbers haven't been great and most of that is because the Steelers offense has been bad. Johnson had three catches last week and had no more than four in any of the last five games.

Johnson faces the Colts who are ranked sixth in aFPA to wide receivers. Indy should give the Steelers passing game problems and Johnson will have problems getting over the hump. Start him for Week 15 but only as a WR3 or Flex.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New England Patriots
Diontae Johnson got a garbage touchdown on Sunday and even though he had five receptions it was only for 33 yards. Now, we will see how much he gets the ball this Thursday as veteran QB Mitch Trubisky takes over the offense.

Don't expect much and even though the Patriots have been average against opposing receivers, this could go a lot of different directions and the short week doesn't help. Keep Johnson on the bench for Week 14.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Although there were more highlights of Diontae Johnson taking a play off than his highlights, he still is a valuable part of the receiving corps because the Steelers need him. He had four catches for 50 yards and was targeted eight times, but did drop a touchdown.

Johnson faces the Cardinals who are ranked 16th in aFPA to wide receivers. It is expected he will continue to get targets which gives him fantasy value.

Start Johnson as a WR3 or flex for Week 13. It has been a roller coaster for him so far this season, but we know he can have a big game any week and with the Steelers offense improving, the odds go up.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals
The Steelers passing game has been awful the past couple weeks and Diontae Johnson's fantasy numbers have suffered. He has three receptions for 33 yards over the last two games and Pittsburgh finally made a move to fire OC Matt Canada. We will wait and see how that affects the Steelers overall offense.

Johnson is facing the Bengals who are ranked 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers. Last season in two games, he had 11 receptions for 76 yards and that has been the trend - lots of targets and receptions - small receiving yard and touchdown totals.

Start Johnson as a high-end WR3 or Flex for Week 12. This is a favorable matchup for the Steelers passing game, but still plenty of questions about the overall offense.
