Scouting report

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens
Devlin Hodges threw one touchdown pass and six interceptions in six quarters before being yanked in favor of Mason Rudolph in the second quarter last week against the Jets. He later was forced back into the game when Rudolph was injured, meaning he'll get another start this week against the Ravens. But hoping for any significant fantasy play is just that -- pure hope. He shouldn't be in your lineup.

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New York Jets
Devlin Hodges threw for a career-high 202 yards last week, but he also had one touchdown and four interceptions. Mike Tomlin will stick with him this week against the Jets -- as long as he plays well. The leash, however, could be short. If he struggles against the Jets, who are 20th in defense against opposing QBs, look for Tomlin to go back to Mason Rudolph. That means Hodges shouldn't be in your lineup this week.

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Buffalo Bills
The Steelers are limiting Devlin Hodges to around 20 passes in each of his three starts, though he's making the most of them. Last week, he completed 16 of 19 for 152 yards and a touchdown and also scrambled for 34 yards. But that's about the total you can count on from week to week. It's a tough matchup against the Bills, even at home. Hodges shouldn't be in your lineup in a game that should be played in the teens on both sides.

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Arizona Cardinals
Devlin Hodges overcame a slow start -- the Steelers had nine yards on their first eight plays -- to finish with 212 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Browns. Now he gets to face the league's worst-rated pass defense in just about every category. It's a road game, but Hodges already won a game at LA against the Chargers this season, so don't knock him down too far. Hodges shouldn't be in your lineup, however, unless you're in a two QB league format. And even then, probably not, despite the juicy matchup.

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Cleveland Browns
Devlin Hodges entered in the third quarter last week against the Bengals and threw for 118 yards and a touchdown -- a 79-yard strike to James Washington. He'll get the start again this week against the Browns at home. The Steelers only let him throw the ball 20 times in his previous start, a win against the Chargers. Look for a similar game script here. The Steelers want to run the ball and limit Hodges from getting into high-leverage situations. That doesn't bode well for Hodges' fantasy value.

PIT QB Devlin Hodges - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Los Angeles Chargers
Devlin Hodges will make his first career start for the Steelers against the Chargers after stepping in for an injured Mason Rudolph last week and completing seven of nine passes for 68 yards and also running twice for 20 yards. He's an accurate passer and a little more poised than many rookies because he played so much in college, basically starting three-plus seasons at Samford, where he broke Steve McNair's FCS passing yardage records. But this is a tough spot. The Steelers will likely lean on their running game and ask Hodges to convert third downs with an occasional deep ball. But he shouldn't be in your lineup this week, despite a pretty decent matchup.
