LAC WR DeAndre Carter - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Las Vegas Raiders

DeAndre Carter was one of the stars of the show for the Chargers in their Week 12 win over the Cardinals. Carter saw a season-high ten targets, and also posted season-bests with seven grabs and 73 yards. He scored his second touchdown of the season and his first since Week 1 on his way to 16.8 Half PPR points, the 11th most among wide receivers last week.

As good a performance as it was a week ago, we need to see more consistency before we get too excited about Carter as a fantasy force. The Raiders rank 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers this season, and with two other notable wide receivers, a tight end in Gerald Everett and a target hoover at running back, Carter will have to do very well to outkick a WR3 projection this week.

Week 11 vs Kansas City Chiefs

DeAndre Carter was a pleasant surprise for any fantasy manager who had to start him in Week 10. He caught all four of his targets, tied a season-high with 64 receiving yards, and caught his second touchdown of the year and his first since Week 3. Carter posted 14.4 Half PPR points and finished as the WR16.

The Chiefs rank 28th in aPFA to wide receivers, and if Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are forced to sit out once again then Carter should see a similar workload as last week. Even so, it's hard to get excited about his fantasy appeal, and Carter should be viewed as a WR4 heading into the week.

Week 10 at San Francisco 49ers

DeAndre Carter hauled in a season-high five receptions against the Falcons in Week 9, posting 53 yards on the way. It was his third 50+ yard game this season and his first since Week 2. Carter's 24 receptions in 2022 are a career-high, and he only needs 15 more yards to set a new high watermark in receiving yards too. Carter managed 7.8 Half PPR points in Week 9, finishing as the WR28.

Carter should continue to see a decent target share in the Chargers' decimated wide receiver corps and has a non-threatening matchup in Week 10 against a 49ers defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers. But it's hard to project as having a seriously fantasy-friendly role, and as such he should be viewed as a WR5 this week.

Week 9 at Atlanta Falcons

DeAndre Carter has shown flashes this season, scoring a touchdown in Week 1, and amassing 12 targets over his past two games. However, the longtime journeyman return specialist hasn't been thrust into a full time role as of yet. That could change this week, with the Chargers expected to be down their top-two receivers. Carter looks to be in line for a starting gig against a Falcons defense that ranks dead last in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Carter is a risky bet given his lack of production thus far, but he's a big play waiting to happen and if the targets keep coming in a great matchup, he could be a fantasy surprise in Week 9. We have him ranked as a risky WR3 option with upside, and he might be worth considering as a bye week replacement for needy rosters.

WAS WR DeAndre Carter - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Philadelphia Eagles

DeAndre Carter finished with six targets last week, the second-most on the team. But he only finished 2-12 and played on 59% of the offensive snaps, his lowest amount since Week 7. Carter could be an interesting play this week if Terry McLaurin is inactive. Carter has shown some success this year with three touchdowns. He's also versatile with six carries on the ground. He also leads the league in total return yards, which is a nice bonus in leagues that count that. He could be worth a WR4 start if McLaurin is inactive, but if McLaurin plays then we'd avoid Carter in Week 15.

Week 14 vs. Dallas Cowboys

After a stretch of successful games, DeAndre Carter finally had a dud, finishing with just six yards on one catch last week. But while the production wasn't there, Carter was still heavily involved, playing on 73% of the offensive snaps. He's seen a lot more playing time after Washington's bye week. Although Curtis Samuel has been returning, and Carter has a similar skill set. So the few touches Carter was getting will now be partly split with Samuel, which makes him a hard player to trust in fantasy. Carter won't really be on the fantasy radar in Week 14.

Week 13 at Las Vegas Raiders

Even with Curtis Samuel returning to the lineup, DeAndre Carter turned in a solid game, finishing 4-42 on five targets with an additional four yards on a carry. Carter also had 51 total return yards as he leads the league in that category, a nice bonus to leagues that count return yards. Depending on your scoring settings, Carter has topped double digits in three straight games. Although his role may diminish a bit as Samuel gets more playing time as he recovers from injury. Carter is an interesting player, but he's not much more than a WR5 this week, especially in a tough matchup vs. the Raiders.
