Scouting report

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Indianapolis Colts

Davante Adams had a forgettable outing against the Chiefs last week, catching just one pass for four yards. He led the team with six targets, but it was an awful day for the Las Vegas passing attack. Only 21 pass attempts and nine completions.

This week, Adams faces a Colts defense that ranks ninth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Despite a less-than-ideal matchup, we expect Adams to get back on track. He had at least five receptions in each of his previous five games, a span that saw him find the end zone twice as well. With the unpredictability of this offense, Adams isn’t without risk, but he should still be considered a viable WR2 option in most leagues.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Kansas City Chiefs

Davante Adams had a nice game against the Chargers last week, as the Raiders ran up the score against a very vulnerable defense. Adams finished with eight catches on 12 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. It was good to see him back over 100 yards for the first time since Week 3, and he now has double-digit targets in four of his last five games.

This week, Adams faces a Chiefs defense that ranks fifth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. He caught five balls for 73 yards when they met a few weeks ago, and his number of targets should continue to make him worthy of fantasy WR2 status. Don’t expect another day like last week from the Las Vegas offense, but Adams should be in lineups.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Davante Adams caught seven of his 10 targets last week for 53 yards in a 3-0 loss to the Vikings. Adams and the rest of the Raider offense struggled mightily in the low-scoring affair, but notching another double-digit target day was encouraging. He now has double-digit targets in three of his last four games.

This week, Adams faces a Chargers defense that ranks 23rd in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. It’s a nice matchup, so Adams should be set up for success, especially with the targets he’s been getting. In a struggling offense, we still have him ranked in the low-WR2 range, but there’s upside here for frustrated fantasy managers looking for a throwback performance from Adams.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Davante Adams didn’t find the end zone against the Chiefs before the bye last week, but he did catch five of his seven targets for 73 yards. Adams is still getting a steady dose of targets with Aiden O’Connell behind center, and while he only has one 100-yard receiving game this season, there are some better matchups on the horizon for the veteran star receiver.

This week, Adams faces a Vikings defense that ranks 17th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. With questions at the quarterback position, it’s hard to trust Adams to put up the elite numbers we’ve seen from him in the past. Still, with the targets he’s getting, you have to hope talent will win out. We have him ranked as a quality WR2 option this week.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Davante Adams returned to the end zone for the first time since Week 3 last week, catching seven balls for 82 yard and a score in a loss to the Dolphins, Adams was the lone bright spot for the Raiders in a forgettable loss, and it was encouraging to see 13 targets head his way with Aiden O’Connell at quarterback. That’s 26 targets over his last two games, so there’s hope for Adams to thrive, even with the rest of the team struggling.

This week, Adams has a tough matchup against a Chiefs defense that ranks fourth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. L’Jarius Snead is having an All-Pro caliber season in the Kansas City secondary, so expect Adams to have a tougher-than-usual kind of day. His talent and targets make him worth starting, but we have him ranked in the WR2 range against a difficult opponent this week.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Miami Dolphins

Davante Adams caught six balls for 86 yards against the Jets last week. It was a bounce-back game of sorts for Adams after two straight games with single-digit half-PPR fantasy points. It was also encouraging to see him targeted 13 times.

This week, Adams has what looks like a nice matchup against a Miami defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. The Dolphins have a healthier secondary than they’ve had all season, however, so that number may improve over the second half. Still, Adams gets enough targets and has enough talent, he should be active. The Raiders also may be playing from behind, which should benefit the passing game from a fantasy standpoint. We have Adams ranked as a fringe-WR1 option.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New York Jets

Davante Adams is struggling along with the rest of the Las Vegas passing attack. He gained just 34 yards on four receptions last week in a lopsided victory over the Giants. You have to hope his rapport with rookie Aiden O’Connell will improve as the season progresses, but he hasn’t had double-digit half-PPR points in a game since October 1st, making it hard to trust him for the elite production we’re used to seeing.

Adams has a brutal matchup this week against Sauce Gardner and a Jets defense that ranks first in the league in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Given the tough matchup, the lack of passing production in Las Vegas, and Adams’ recent struggles in general, we have him downgraded from his usual WR1 status down to fringe WR2 territory. Be cautious.
