Scouting report

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Houston
Dan Herron isn't getting enough touches to make himself relevant for fantasy.

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dan Herron - Week 13 vs. Pittsburgh
Dan Herron was brought in this week to help Frank Gore down the stretch since the veteran back is "beat to crap." This is still Gore's job, though, and Herron was just brought on to the team (he was with them last year, but it's still an adjustment).

We don't expect much from Herron this week.

BUF RB Dan Herron - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Bengals
Dan Herron was signed and now becomes a player to keep an eye for Buffalo until Karlos Williams and LeSean McCoy return from injury. Herron only received 26% of the snaps last week, but that number should go up as he is more comfortable with the playbook.

The Bills offensive situation is not good right now. Most Bills will not be fantasy options this week including Herron.

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 20, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dan Herron - Week 20 vs. New England

Dan "Boom" Herron is the back to own in Indianapolis' backfield. He totaled 95 yards last week and scored a touchdown. He's now scored in both of the Colts' postseason games. He also has 18 receptions in two games so far, making him a great PPR option.

He'll face the Patriots this week, who allowed Justin Forsett to rush for 129 yards last week. The Patriots' defense can be had on the ground. Herron doesn't create a lot of yards on the ground. He just does a great job of gaining yards both on the ground and through the air.

Herron is one of the top options this weekend at running back.

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 19, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dan Herron - Week 19 vs. Denver

As expected, Dan Herron played well last week in a favorable matchup. He finished with 141 total yards and a touchdown. He was especially nice in PPR formats as he finished with 10 receptions.

This week he faces a Denver defense that is quite tough against the run. They've only allowed backs to top 100 rushing yards twice this season. They've also only allowed two rushing scores to backs in the last 12 games.

Herron creates most of his damage through the air, not on the ground. So he has a bit of an advantage there. He's not an elite option, but he's better than some of the other backs available this week.

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 18, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dan Herron - Wild Card vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Ever since Week 12 the Colts have been using Dan Herron more and more. Since that time he's finished with at least 60 total yards in every game but one. He's also caught at least two passes in all of those games. His biggest downfall is he's only scored one touchdown this season.

Herron hasn't been overly exciting, but he's been much better than his teammate Trent Richardson. Richardson's usage has gone down, which is good news for fans of Herron.

This week he'll get a favorable matchup against the Bengals. Cincinnati has allowed 17 total touchdowns to back this season, an average of over one per game. Herron didn't play much in the team's first matchup against the Bengals, but he performed well in his small usage. He ran the ball five times for 37 yards (7.4 ypc). He should be viewed as one of the better options this week.

IND RB Dan Herron - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Dan Herron - Week 17 vs. Tennessee Titans

Dan Herron struggled last week just like the rest of the Colts' offense. He ran seven times for just three yards and caught three passes for 37 yards. The Colts pretty much abandoned the run game and benched the first-team offense in the third quarter, so Herron wasn't utilized as much.

This week he should be more involved. He faces a Titans defense that's allowed the most points to opposing backs this season. Also, the Colts will likely run the ball more often as they aren't playing for anything this week.

Herron should be viewed as a low-end RB2 in a favorable matchup.
