The Seahawks fear that running back Chris Carson suffered a season-ending hip injury Sunday, a massive blow as they head into next week's NFC West showdown with the San Francisco 49ers and then the playoffs.
Carson was injured in the second quarter of a 27-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in which the Seahawks also lost his backup, C.J. Prosise, to a season-ending broken arm.
Homer is now the lone healthy back on the team and is expected to get a feature role going forward. The team will have to make a move for an RB who will likely get snaps as well. Homer is a rookie sixth round pick who had just two carries entering Sunday.
Rapoport went on to say the MRI confirmed the news for the former first-round pick, who also has additional damage to his knee. He’s out until training camp. Tough injury for a player who was starting to come on and steal snaps from Carson. Carson should go back to getting a bulk of the work with Prosise mixing in.
Penny will have more tests Monday, according to Rapoport, but it appears his 2019 will be over, the tweet went on to say. It's not a shock especially after a story we had earlier today didn't paint the injury in a positive light. Carson would likely go back to getting a larger workload with Prosise mixing in.
