Scouting report

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Tennessee Titans

Chester Rogers caught his lone target last week and gained 12 yards. Rogers has only two games with double-digit PPR points, despite playing 53% of the team’s offensive snaps this season. It will be interesting to see whether Rogers or Marcus Johnson see a decrease in snaps if T.Y. Hilton returns to full health this week, but either way, Rogers has simply been too unproductive to warrant a roster spot in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Houston Texans

Chester Rogers had a nice 18-yard run last week against the Jaguars, but he only had one reception for 11 yards to go with it. Rogers has been relegated to WR3 duties while the top three wide receivers for the Colts have been injured. That doesn’t bode well for him should any of those guys return – T.Y. Hilton is questionable this week – and the team can’t sustain more than one fantasy receiver as it is. Leave Rogers on waivers.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Chester Rogers caught two balls for 31 yards last week in what should’ve been an excellent matchup against the Dolphins. He has scored two touchdowns this season, but has been otherwise irrelevant as a fantasy option. While he has upside in a depleted receiving corps, it’s too risky to trust him and fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Miami Dolphins

Chester Rogers played 65% of the team’s offensive snaps last week with T.Y. Hilton sidelined, a number that should at least maintain – if not increase – after Parris Campbell fractured his hand. Rogers only had 22 yards on three receptions against the Steelers, but he caught a touchdown and he has an excellent matchup this week against the Dolphins. Fantasy owners should be cautious about trusting any of the Colts’ backup receivers, but there’s some upside here for desperate owners. Rogers should get increased snaps and there’s a dearth of options for Colts’ quarterbacks to throw to. Only the Buccaneers rank lower in aFPA to opposing wide receivers than the Dolphins this year, giving Rogers some shot-in-the-dark potential.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Houston Texans

Chester Rogers had 48 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against the Raiders, but then failed to catch either of his two targets against the Chiefs before the bye last week. The only Colts wide receiver to offer any kind of consistent fantasy production this year is T.Y. Hilton, and with him in the lineup, it’s hard to imagine any of the other options producing. Fantasy owners should steer clear of the situation and Rodgers doesn’t offer enough long-term upside to warrant a roster spot in the vast majority of leagues.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Kansas City Chiefs

Chester Rogers had a touchdown last week against the Raiders, but he only caught three balls for 48 yards. He was targeted six times however and was second among wide receivers in snaps. With T.Y. Hilton sidelined, he went from 41% of the team’s offensive snaps in Week 3 to 71% last week. Rogers has some upside against a Chiefs team that will likely keep the Colts offense throwing the ball to keep up, but it’s hard to imagine Rogers being the best or most consistent option in the receiving corps. He has some long-shot potential, but is probably best left on waivers.

IND WR Chester Rogers - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Oakland Raiders

Despite being on the field for 41% of the team’s offensive snaps last week, Chester Rogers failed to catch a ball and wasn’t even targeted. Rogers has seen the field, so there’s always the potential for him to become part of the offense, but in a large group of receivers trying to stand out, there’s no reason to think Rogers will come out on top, even with T.Y. Hilton likely to miss a nice matchup against the Raiders. Leave him on waivers.
