Scouting report

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Cairo Santos at Buffalo Bills
After scoring ten points or more in Weeks 7 and 8, Cairo Santos cooled down in Week 9, kicking three extra points and a field goal. Santos is once again in the middle of the rankings, as Kansas City is a conservative team that needs all the points they can get but they are not good enough offensively to make Santos a safe weekly starter.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Cairo Santos vs. New York Jets
The Chiefs enjoyed a banner day in routing the Rams 34-7, and Cairo Santos was a big part of the fun. The rookie from Tulane nailed a career-best 53-yard field goal attempt. He also connected from 28 yards and added four extra points. Santos has scored at least 10 points in three of his last four games, but you never know when Kansas City's ultra-conservative approach might cause his numbers to plunge. There are plenty of kickers with more to offer.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Cairo Santos vs. St. Louis Rams
Cairo Santos was the hero for Kansas City in week seven. His 48-yard field goal beat the San Diego Chargers in a game the Chiefs had to have to stay afloat in the AFC West and wild card race. Santos, who finished with three field goals and two extra points, has scored 11 points in two of his last three games. The once-strong St. Louis defense is no longer anything special. Santos can be a low-end starter for your team.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Cairo Santos at San Diego Chargers
Kansas City’s ball-control offense has not been doing Cairo Santos any favors in the fantasy universe. The rookie out of Tulane kicked two extra points and one field goal when the Chiefs lost to San Francisco 22-17 back in week five. Although the Chiefs may have to be forced out of their comfort zone out on the West Coast, Santos simply is not worth the trouble.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Cairo Santos at San Francisco 49ers
With Kansas City on a scoring tear the past couple of weeks, Cairo Santos has performed better than he did at the start of the season. Santos drilled a pair of field goals and five extra points on Monday night when the Chiefs dismantled New England. Unfortunately for Santos and the rest of the Chiefs, a trip to the Bay Area usually ends in frustration. His low position in our rankings reflects that.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 – Cairo Santos vs. New England Patriots
On the surface, Kansas City’s offensive outburst last Sunday in a 34-15 victory over Miami bodes well for Cairo Santos, even if the rookie kicker only mustered four extra points during the scoring festival. However, the Chiefs are unlikely to generate as many points against New England’s formidable defense on Monday Night Football. If you are on the hunt for a kicker, Cairo’s not the answer.

KC K Cairo Santos - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Cairo Santos at Miami Dolphins
In reality, Kansas City has bigger issues than their kicker, but their decision to sack Ryan Succop and sign Cairo Santos has backfired. Succop has hit all five of his field goal tries for his new team, the Tennessee Titans, while Santos has missed two of his four attempts. Cairo’s accuracy issues and Kansas City’s marginal offense are a bad combination. Santos should not be on anyone’s roster.
