Jets sign WR Donte Moncrief, cut K Brett Maher

The Jets announced the previously reported signing of Donte Moncrief on Monday morning and they also announced the release of kicker Brett Maher.

Maher signed a future contract with the Jets after the end of the 2019 regular season and joined Sam Ficken as the team’s options at kicker. Ficken spent most of last season in that role and is now set to open this season in the same role.

Fantasy Impact:

The Jets are banged up at WR and thus the signing of Moncrief. But, the move means the kicking job now belongs to Ficken.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein (right quadricep, questionable) did not practice Wednesday. Zuerlein looks iffy for Saturday. Given the bad matchup, owners would be wise to look elsewhere for their kicking needs. Brett Maher worked out for the Rams on Thursday.

Cowboys have cut Brett Maher and signed veteran Kai Forbath.

Fantasy Impact:

Maher has missed 10 field goals this year and is 20-for-30 on the season. Forbath should have some fantasy value down the stretch on an offense that can move the ball.
