The story added that he looked to be in a lot of pain as trainers evaluated him on the sideline. Miller did not return to the field. If Miller has to miss next week, it could be a committee of Alfred Blue, Akeem Hunt and Jonathan Grimes.
As the Houston Chronicle recently reminded readers, in eight games last season after being promoted from the practice squad, Akeem Hunt flashed his athleticism and skill in a complementary role. The former Purdue standout rushed for 109 yards on 20 carries, caught three passes for 29 yards and returned nine kickoffs for 194 yards. He averaged 21.6 yards per return with a long return of 39 yards. Hunt rushed for a career-high 52 yards on eight carries in a road win over the Jaguars last season, all in the second half. Hunt is one of the fastest players on the roster with a 4.37 time in the 40-yard dash. And he's gradually put on some muscle, gaining about six pounds, and is now up to 204 pounds.
The problem is the pecking order. At best, Hunt plays a complimentary role behind Lamar Miller and rookie D'Onta Foreman.
2017 Bottom Line
Assuming the players ahead of him on the depth chart remain healthy, Hunt won't be fantasy relevant. If that changes, he'll be waiting for you on the waiver wire in almost every redraft league.
