Jets QB Sam Darnold is officially out of Monday’s game against the Browns as he recovers from mononucleosis.
This is just the formal announcement after the diagnosis was revealed earlier in the week. Darnold is expected to miss multiple games. The Jets have their bye in Week 4, so it’s possible Darnold only misses this week and next week against the Patriots, returning potentially in Week 5 against the Eagles. For the time being, Trevor Siemian will take the reins of the Jets offense.
Bell went for an MRI on his shoulder on Thursday but that did not reveal any major damage. Head coach Adam Gase said Bell would be good to go for Monday and Bell practiced Friday (on a limited basis) and Saturday. Keep your options open just in case but it sounds like Bell will be in the lineup Monday night.
