Bears will be 'smart' with WR Anthony Miller (shoulder)

Monday, September 24, 2018, 6:51pm

Chicago Tribune - [Full Article]

The Bears are going to be “smart” with rookie wide receiver Anthony Miller, coach Matt Nagy said Monday, after Miller left Sunday’s victory in Arizona with what Nagy termed a dislocated left shoulder.

Fantasy Impact:

Miller left the game twice and after the second time did not return. Miller missed his 2014 season at Memphis with shoulder issues, a torn labrum in his right and a minor injury in his left. The team says Miller is day to day.

Cardinals QB Sam Bradford (not injury related) took full practice reps again Friday. Bradford should be out there against the Bears. He’s not a good start given the bad matchup.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Fitzgerald is expected to play through the injury. Bears CB Bryce Callahan has played pretty well this year.

Coach Steve Wilks told the media on Wednesday that Larry Fitzgerald will play Sunday against the Bears.

Fantasy Impact:

Fitzgerald's season has been a disappointment thus far, which isn't too likely to change against the Bears. Until Sam Bradford either figures things out or gets benched, the future Hall of Famer's outlook will continue to be far grimmer than owners hoped.

Nagy: Bears RB Jordan Howard needs 'a few more carries'

Tuesday, September 18, 2018, 7:10pm

Chicago Sun Times - [Full Article]

Bears coach Matt Nagy said Tuesday that, typically, teams with a lead can give their running backs 8-10 fourth-quarter carries, though “that hasn’t been happening” with Jordan Howard.

He pointed to a fourth quarter series when Howard took two handoffs and a screen pass. On one of the carries, the Bears lost five yards.

“That’s hard — we as an offense can’t let that happen,” he said. “I think probably a few more carries is probably the answer to that, but we don’t go into any game saying, ‘You’ve gotta get X amount of runs or X amount of passes.’ We just kinda play it out as is.”

Fantasy Impact:

Through two games, 11 NFL players boast more carries than Howard’s 29. Eleven also claim more rushing yards per game than his 58.5, the story said. Strangely, Tarik Cohen has also been limited in his touches, but Howard is averaging 19 touches a game.

Carroll: Seahawks QB Russell Wilson 'over-trying'

Tuesday, September 18, 2018, 4:19pm

Seattle Times - [Full Article]

The phase Pete Carroll used was “over-trying.”

That’s how the ninth-year Seahawks head coach described the play of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson on ESPN 710 on Tuesday morning, hours after Seattle dropped a 24-17 decision to the Chicago Bears to fall to 0-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Wilson had one interception and a lost fumble in the defeat. He was also sacked six times, five of which occurred in the first half. Seattle’s 12 sacks allowed through two games ranks dead last in the NFL. Carroll added Wilson is pressing in difficult situations instead of getting rid of the ball. He has a tough matchup against the Cowboys in Week 3.

Cardinals think WR Larry Fitzgerald will play Week 3

Tuesday, September 18, 2018, 12:03pm

USA Today - [Full Article]

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald left Sunday’s 34-0 loss against the Los Angeles Rams with a hamstring injury. It was a decision made by coach Steve Wilks.

He said in his Monday meeting with the media that he has to “help Larry help himself,” and holding him out of part of the game against the Rams was doing that.

He anticipates, though, that Fitzgerald will play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. “We all now that it’s going to be tough to keep Larry off the field.”

Fantasy Impact:

Fitz may be limited this week in practice but it sounds like he'll be good to go for Week 3.

Bears RB Tarik Cohen (ankle) appears to be OK

Tuesday, September 18, 2018, 9:35am

CBS Sports - [Full Article]

Tarik Cohen (ankle) appears to be fine after exiting Monday's contest late in the game, Adam Hoge of WGN reports.

Fantasy Impact:

Head coach Matt Nagy said Cohen was dancing around in the locker room after the victory over the Seahawks. Still, Cohen finished the contest with just four rushes for eight yards and caught one pass for 17 yards prior to exiting.

Bears TE Daniel Brown (shoulder) took full practice reps Thursday.

Friday, September 14, 2018, 6:54pm

Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (knee) missed practice Thursday. Baldwin isn’t going to play against the Bears. In a tough matchup against the Broncos, Tyler Lockett turned four targets into three catches for 59 yards and a score, while Brandon Marshall posted three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown on six targets. Lockett plays mostly in the slot, where he’ll match up with Bryce Callahan, who gave up six catches on six targets against the Packers in Week 1. Callahan doesn’t have the speed to stick with Lockett, so the key will be whether the Seattle offensive line can pass protect long enough to allow Lockett to get downfield. Marshall is likely to see a lot of the shorter routes and may be the better play in PPR formats.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) missed practice again Thursday. Rodgers seemed confident after the Packers’ comeback victory against the Bears that he’d be out there against the Vikings, though he said that the team is taking it “one day at a time.” He won’t be anywhere near 100%, but he should be able to play in Week 2. We’ll see.
