Ryan Fitzpatrick has 'ligament issue' in thumb

The Jets rolled with Geno Smith for the rest of Sunday afternoon and the question for the Jets is whether Ryan Fitzpatrick’s left thumb injury is going to lead to an extended run for the former starter.

Alex Flanagan of CBS Sports spoke to Jets coach Todd Bowles at halftime of their game against the Raiders and reports that Bowles said Fitzpatrick has a “ligament issue” in his thumb. Bowles didn’t give any sense of Fitzpatrick’s outlook for future weeks, but Mike Florio of PFT reported that the Jets have already started calling around in search of quarterback help.

Fantasy Impact:

It looks like Geno Smith could be replacing Fitzpatrick at least for the short term until we learn more about Fitz's injury. Smith was 27-for-42 with 265 yards playing from behind. He had two TDs and one INT. With the talent around him, he certainly has some fantasy upside if he can avoid turnovers.
