"Retirement is an option" for Steven Jackson

Steven Jackson told fantasy editor Michael Fabiano he plans to sit down with the St. Louis Rams in the offseason to determine his options, but admitted that “retirement is an option” if he’s not entirely happy. The veteran back referred to the retirement Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders as an example of a player who walked away in his prime instead of staying in the game too long.

Fantasy Impact: 

Jackson has a player option for 2013, and it looks like he's planning to hit the open market if he can't come to terms with the Rams. With nearly 2,400 regular season carries in his career and his 30th birthday coming up in July, teams may be cautious when committing to Jackson long-term.
