Report: Derek Carr to start at QB for Raiders

Raiders players have been told that Derek Carr will be the starting quarterback over Matt Schaub, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports tweeted Monday.

The Raiders reconvened to begin preparations to face the New York Jets and begin practice at 3:45 p.m.

Glazer has good relationship with Raiders coach Dennis Allen from the time when Allen worked on the staff of Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Impact:

Schaub missed three days of practice leading up to the preseason finale against Seattle. Carr completed 11 of 13 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders had touchdowns in all four of his possessions. Schaub was away from the facility Friday because of a “personal issue.” Carr out-played Schaub who really struggled at times in the preseason. As a result, the Raiders say this isn't a week-to-week situation with Carr, he's going to be the starter for the long haul. Carr has much more upside, but is likely going to make his share of mistakes. It's not a great first matchup against the Jets, however they ranked just 25th in allowing fantasy points to QBs last season. Look for the Raiders to try to get the running game going early to take pressure off Carr, however the Jets are expected to again be good against the run.
