RB Adrian Peterson Looking Forward To Monday

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said Saturday that he has been battling tightness in his left hamstring since the second day of training camp but he expects to be ready to go full speed on Monday.

"It was the second practice, and I basically hit the corner with a nice little sprint and made an abrupt stop," Peterson said. "If you know anything about running, that's just something you don't do as a runner. I made that mistake, and it backfired on me. But I'm feeling good, and I'll be ready to roll Monday."

The Vikings will have their first off day of camp Sunday, enabling Peterson to get another day of rest. He sat out four practices before returning Friday morning and doing limited work. He participated in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills Saturday -- the most work he has done since being injured -- but did not do anything in the live periods in the morning where tackling was involved.
