Quarterback Matt Cassel is back with the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills announced they re-signed the 11-year journeyman Tuesday, a few days after Cassel was among the final players cut by the team.

Cassel was released after losing the three-way quarterback competition to Tyrod Taylor, who was named the starter last week. Cassel was also scheduled to make a base salary of $4.15 million, which was deemed too expensive for a backup.

Fantasy Impact:

Now Cassel will compete with former starter EJ Manuel to serve as the prime backup on Sunday, when Buffalo opens the season by hosting Indianapolis.
