QB Brady present for start of practice

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is present for the start of today’s practice, colleague Christopher L. Gasper reports.

The Patriots are currently working out on the upper fields behind Gillette Stadium. Reporters primarily saw Brady, who suffered what the team termed a "sore shoulder" against Washington on Friday night, handing the ball off. There was no throwing.

Per Patriots policy, reporters are allowed to attend the start of practice, which includes individual drills and stretching. Once more rigorous team drills begin, reporters leave the field. The policy adds important context when considering Brady's status, as players could potentially leave the field when reporters depart, or have their work limited.

Yet Brady's presence, regardless of his workload, has to be considered a positive sign.
