ESPN Boston - [Full Article]

For the first time this season, Pats WR Brandon Lloyd was No. 3 on the receiver depth chart in terms of snaps played.

Julian Edelman was the primary beneficiary of this change, as his 52 snaps were his second highest total of the season (behind 75, vs. Cardinals on Sept. 16). Edelman and Wes Welker were the primary pairing in two-receiver sets, giving the Patriots a smaller, shiftier tandem.

Aaron Hernandez expected back Thanksgiving
Monday, November 19, 2012, 9:53am

The Boston Globe - [Full Article]

Pats TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) is expected back Thanksgiving night at the Jets. The Patriots held him out Sunday because the short turnaround for Thursday probably wouldn’t have been possible.

Fantasy Impact:

The story said the Pats could become a more receiver-focused team with Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Julian Edelman and Greg Salas. It also said Rob Gronkowski and Hernandez play different TE position in the Pats system, so maybe don't expect Hernandez to step in and be Gronk.

If the Patriots want to stick with their two TE system while Gronkowski is out, then Michael Hoomanawanui (6-4, 263) and Daniel Fells (6-4, 265) could fill Gronkowski’s Y position. Hernandez (6-1, 245) and Visanthe Shincoe (6-4, 250) are the flex tight ends. Hoomanawanui and Fells likely wouldn't be great fantasy options, though and Hernandez should still see a bit of increase in value.

Wes Welker leaves London with an ankle injury
Sunday, October 28, 2012, 8:07pm

ESPN Boston - [Full Article]

Patriots receiver Wes Welker left Sunday’s win over the Rams in the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury and didn’t return. He answered questions from reporters afterward, and naturally the ankle was a topic of discussion.

Welker was asked if the ankle would be OK.

“Yeah, I think so,” he answered. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on.”

Fantasy Impact:

The Patriots are on bye next week so unless the sprain is of the high ankle variety, he should be fine for Week 10.
