The Seattle Seahawks were one of the teams to put in a waiver claim for quarterback Connor Shaw, according to Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate.

Shaw was cut by the Cleveland Browns and landed on the Chicago Bears, but he drew interest from multiple teams, including the New Orleans Saints.

The note is a reminder that the Seahawks are in the market for backup quarterback help. Their primary option right now is Trevone Boykin, but the team might not be comfortable going with a rookie undrafted free agent behind Russell Wilson.

Tarvaris Jackson was thought to be a possibility, but he faces off the field issues stemming from an alleged aggravated assault incident with a deadly weapon. Jackson has been the Seahawks' backup quarterback for the past three seasons.

One name brought up recently by ESPN analyst Phil Savage was Michael Vick.

Fantasy Impact:

Vick, 36, played in five games with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year. He completed 60.6 percent of his passes but averaged just 5.62 yards per attempt. Vick threw two touchdowns and was intercepted once. He also ran 20 times for 99 yards.

The severity of the injury that Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson sustained against the Broncos became more clear Monday with coach Pete Carroll announcing it's a high ankle sprain. The team's plan, however, is still unclear.

Carroll said the Seahawks are evaluating their options and that the team worked out an unspecified quarterback on Monday.

"We're looking at it," Carroll said.

Jackson was injured in Friday night's preseason opener when a Denver player fell on his right ankle. He limped off the field and was replaced by third-string quarterback R.J. Archer, who played the remainder of the game.

Fantasy Impact:

The Seahawks have another in-house option in B.J. Daniels, who was a practice squad quarterback before converting to wide receiver earlier this offseason. Carroll said Daniels will take some reps at quarterback and that as of now he would be the third quarterback if one were needed in a game.

Seahawks QBs Terrelle Pryor and Tarvaris Jackson took turns guiding the No. 2 offense, with B.J. Daniels getting a series with the No. 1 offense.

Pryor seemed more erratic — a few really good plays but also some not-so-good.

Jackson was dependable. That may be Seattle’s choice at that spot and whether they want to keep two or three QBs — the consistency and dependability of Jackson versus the upside of Pryor. I think the preseason games will tell a lot there.

Seahawks trade for Terrelle Pryor

Raiders trade Terrelle Pryor to the Seahawks, per league source.

Fantasy Impact:

Pryor fits in as the #2 or #3 QB, probably at #3 with Tarvaris Jackson already in Seattle. This is an interesting move by the Seahawks. Pryor is a terrific athlete and the team is hoping to mold him into a capable backup to Russell Wilson.

Once the team landed QB E.J. Manuel, the Bills had accomplished a prime objective. "Our goal coming in was to bring in another bell-cow quarterback to compete for the job [with newly signed Kevin Kolb and holdover Tarvaris Jackson], and we did that with E.J.," CEO Russ Brandon said. "Then we added some new tools in the toolbox."

Fantasy Impact:

It sounds as if Manuel will compete to start for the Bills.

Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's status appeared secure last month, when new coach Doug Marrone announced he informed Fitzpatrick and newly re-signed backup Tarvaris Jackson that he intends to have both compete for the starting job this offseason.

The Bills' message was less definitive a little more than a week later at the NFL combine in Indianapolis. That's where both GM Buddy Nix and team president Russ Brandon were evasive when discussing Fitzpatrick.
