Cardinals content with Drew Stanton as starting QB
Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 2:22pm

Pro Football Talk - [Full Article]

New Cardinals coach Bruce Arians appears ready to anoint Drew Stanton as his starting quarterback.

Asked by Andrew Siciliano on NFL Network whether he thinks his starting quarterback is currently on the roster, Arians answered, “Yes, we have a very capable one in Drew Stanton.”

Arians continued that Stanton played for him last year as Andrew Luck’s backup in Indianapolis, which makes him comfortable that he has a quarterback who can run his offense effectively.

“Drew knows the offense, he is more than capable of doing it. If he is our guy, I am comfortable,” Arians said.

Fantasy Impact:

Stanton has been in the league for four seasons and Arians knows him well. Expectations won't be high, but even if the Cardinals can get mediocre play out of Stanton, it will be an improvement for WR Larry Fitzgerald.

The New York Jets traded recently signed quarterback Drew Stanton to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets announced Friday.

Terms of the trade weren't immediately available.

The Jets signed Stanton last Friday to be their No. 2 quarterback, but their plans changed when they completed the trade for Tim Tebow.

Stanton became upset and asked the Jets to trade or release him.

Three touchdown passes for Cleveland QB Colt McCoy
Saturday, August 20, 2011, 7:39am

Associated Press - [Full Article]

Quarterback Colt McCoy threw three touchdown passes - two to tight end Evan Moore - in the first half, but Cleveland blew a 15-point lead, losing 30-28 to Detroit in a penalty-filled exhibition.

McCoy finished 10 of 18 for 96 yards, his second straight solid performance running first-year Browns coach Pat Shurmur’s new West Coast offense. McCoy was victimized by a few drops but didn’t force any throws while playing most of the first half.

The Lions trailed by 10 entering the fourth, but got a 20-yard TD pass from Drew Stanton and Dave Rayner’s 48-yard field goal.

The officiating crew had a busy night: The teams were assessed 26 penalties for 211 yards.

Moore caught TDs of 2 and 21 yards, rookie Greg Little grabbed a 13-yarder from McCoy, and rookie Armond Smith had an 81-yard TD run in the third for the Browns.

Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw one TD pass to Nate Burleson. Stafford went 6 of 10 for 85 yards in four series.

Fantasy Impact:

McCoy, with four touchdowns passes in two preseason games, is doing everything he can to earn consideration as a legitimate QB2.

I believed Lions QB Shaun Hill was going to play last week, but when he tested his finger in warm-ups the Detroit coaches didn’t like his velocity. Today, Drew Stanton has a shoulder bruise and Hill makes the most sense, although the Lions say they will wait until this morning to make a final decision.
