Case Keenum ruled out for Week 16
Wednesday, December 18, 2013, 2:16pm
Matt Schaub will get the start and may be able to post a decent line in garbage time. He's also a threat to throw a pick-six or two.

Owen Daniels targeting Week 14 return
Thursday, November 14, 2013, 10:11am
Tight end Owen Daniels said Wednesday he still hopes to return for a Dec. 5 game at Jacksonville.
Daniels last played Oct. 6 in a loss at San Francisco. After fracturing his right fibula, he was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.
Through five weeks, Daniels was the #10 TE, so needy teams could find him useful if he can knock off the rust quickly in his return. Keep in mind that his QB has changed, so it may take some time to get on the same page. Case Keenum also likes to throw to his receivers more than did Matt Schaub. Garrett Graham's production has been a disappointment in Daniels's absence.
Case Keenum will start in Week 9

Schaub is still dealing with an ankle injury but could apparently play in Week 9 against the Colts. However, after a pretty good performance in Week 7 against the undefeated Chiefs, the Texans are again going with Keenum this week. Keenum could be forced to test out the arm with both RBs Arian Foster and Ben Tate not practicing Monday and the team concerned about both players statuses.

Case Keenum is going to start Week 9, per Gary Kubiak on Monday. However, Schaub is healthy enough to play, the team said. It would have been hard to imagine the team not playing Keenum after he kept the Texans in a Week 7 game that was eventually a loss to undefeated Kansas City. Houston plays a Sunday night game against the Colts.

Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Karl Dorrell said prior to Sunday's game versus the Chiefs that the "best-case scenario" would involve Case Keenum putting himself in position to challenge Matt Schaub for the starting job.
That's exactly what happened in a 17-16 loss, in which Keenum displayed athleticism, a quick release and the ability to test an elite defense down the field.
Coach Gary Kubiak left the door open Monday for Keenum to hold onto the position through the bye week.
"Obviously, Matt's our starting quarterback," Kubiak said. "Case went in and played extremely well. I'm going to sit down, we're on a bye week, (and) I'm going to evaluate where we're at as a team and move forward form there."
The story goes on to say that Kubiak praised Keenum for playing mistake-free football and "handling the team very well" in a tough environment. Also, the Houston Chronicle's John McClain, a veteran translator of coachspeak, came away from Monday's press conference "fully expecting" Kubiak to stick with Keenum.
