Laurent Robinson Fantasy News
Cecil Shorts (calf) may return next week
Thursday, August 15, 2013, 11:38pm
Shorts finished as the #22 fantasy WR despite starting the season behind Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson on the depth chart and missing two games due to injury. After the Jaguars' Week 6 bye, Shorts averaged 5.2-86-0.56 which project to #6 WR numbers. If the Jaguars can get decent play out of the QB position, Shorts will be a nice mid-round pick this year.

It was a tough day for QB Blaine Gabbert. His first three plays were nearly-botched hand-off, fumbled exchange, and a collision with left guard Will Rackley to cause a fumble. Later, Gabbert lost possession when he tried to pump-fake a throw and also bobbled a shotgun snap.
Cecil Shorts owners should probably be rooting for Chad Henne in this horse race. Laurent Robinson still struggling with concussion symptoms
Saturday, February 2, 2013, 11:29am
It sure sounds from an interview that Jaguars receiver Laurent Robinson and his wife, Kat, did recently with NFL Network correspondent Andrea Kremer at their Jacksonville home that he's still having serious obstacles in his recovery from four concussions suffered last season. And he might call it quits at the first sign of the problem surfacing again.
"I said to him, 'One more concussion, and you need to be done [playing],' " Kat told Kremer. While Kat said she understood Laurent's desire to keep playing, she's worried about her husband having dementia and Alzheimer's down the road.
Laurent, who was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 21 and has four years remaining on a $32 million contract, says he continues to suffer from severe headaches. It's so bad that he prefers not to go out in daylight. He told Kremer he also distances himself from his infant daughter if she's making noise. "I want to continue to play [football], but I still want to live until 80 or 90 years old," Laurent told Kremer.
If Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley watched that interview, they should have serious concern on how much Robinson can be counted on for the 2013 season.
Hopefully, Robinson can return to full health, but at this point, we are not counting on Robinson making much of a fantasy impact in 2013.
Not so fast -- Cecil Shorts will "be smart" about concussion
Thursday, December 13, 2012, 12:53pm
Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (concussion), who missed the Jets game, was cleared to do limited practice work, but his status for Sunday in Miami remains undetermined. He was injured late in the loss to Buffalo and didn’t start feeling symptoms until the plane ride home.
“It was rough on the plane and pretty much all last week, especially early in the week; it was pretty bad,” he said. “But right now, I’m feeling better. We’ll see how the rest of the week progresses.
“I wasn’t freaked out, but it was frustrating because there isn’t anything you can do for it — it’s not like a leg that you can ice,’’ he said. “You can’t get treatment for your brain. You just need to rest.”
Shorts wasn’t allowed to attend the Jets-Jaguars game, forcing him to watch at home. But seeing teammate Laurent Robinson struggle with four concussions, Shorts understands the caution. “[Robinson] told me to take my time and not rush back — he’s an example and [former linebacker] Clint Session is an example,” Shorts said. “I’m definitely going to be smart about this. As much as I want to play and would like to play, my health is more important.”
