Jordan Reed TE
Darrel Young RB
Brandon Jenkins LB
Josh Laribeus OL
Niles Paul TE

Fantasy Impact:

Jordan Reed was cleared to play tonight, but suffered a setback with concussion symptoms prior to the game. Logan Paulsen is the best backup option for Washington. Brandon Myers and Zach Miller are other options that should be available for desperate owners.

Washington Post - [Full Article]

Washington tight end Logan Paulsen got the start with Fred Davis coming off of a sprained ankle and with rookie Jordan Reed sidelined by a bruised thigh. But Paulsen suffered a late-game knee injury and left O.co Coliseum wearing a brace.

Paulsen had two catches for 46 yards and a fumble.

Fantasy Impact:

TE Niles Paul had two catches for 20 yards as Washington was down to its fourth TE option.

Redskins TE Jordan Reed emerging
Friday, September 20, 2013, 11:02am

Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star - [Full Article]

Redskins TE Jordan Reed played 29 snaps in the loss to the Packers – more than Fred Davis, Logan Paulsen or Niles Paul, the other three tight ends on the roster – and his 54 snaps in the first two games is only 10 fewer than Davis.

In fact, Davis only played 16 snaps against the Packers, and five in the second half, which he believed was because of missed blocking assignments in the running game.

Mike Shanahan wouldn’t confirm Davis’ theory when asked Thursday, but said “if he did, it surely doesn’t help.”

“It’s something that will be week-to-week, game-to-game,” offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. “As the game went on, we felt we had a better chance with Jordan there in the second half.”

Fantasy Impact:

Davis looks to be a bust thus far and Reed is taking advantage. It's safe to cut Davis and look elsewhere for TE production. Reed is getting in the TE2 discussion, but it's unlikely that he'll be a full-time TE in his rookie season.

Redskins re-sign TE Chris Cooley
Monday, October 22, 2012, 8:24am

John Keim on Twitter - [Full Article]

TE Chris Cooley as re-signed with the Redskins.

Fantasy Impact:

Logan Paulsen could still end up seeing more work than Cooley. Paulsen had four catches for 76 yards Sunday. Niles Paul has seen limited action this year, but could also be in the mix for more work. It may take a week or two to get a feel for how the Skins use these guys. None of them are solid options, and Cooley has a track record of not being able to stay on the field.

Fred Davis's quiet preseason explained
Wednesday, August 29, 2012, 12:51pm

The Washington Post - [Full Article]

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis said he feels better prepared for the season opener after making two catches in Saturday’s preseason game against Indianapolis.

Davis hadn’t been targeted in the first two preseason outings. Instead, the Redskins gave converted tight end Niles Paul the bulk of the playmaking opportunities at the position.

Davis had said he understood the reason for his inactivity, but that he was struggling to be patient.

He finally got his chances Saturday. On his longest gain, Davis made a catch, broke a tackle and picked up 11 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

This explains why Davis has had such a quiet preseason. His ADP is in the 7th or 8th round and he's not a bad pick there given this news.

The Washington Post - [Full Article]

Redskins TE Chris Cooley must convince the organization that his knee is sound and he remains a useful player.

The Redskins have a talented starter at tight end in Fred Davis, who was having a big season in 2011 before he was suspended for the final four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The team also has moved Niles Paul, a rookie wide receiver last season, to tight end.

So does Cooley still fit in and, if so, how? The plan, it appears, is for the Redskins to use Cooley in small doses to keep him fresh and maximize his effectiveness.

Skins WR Moss has surgery, expected out a month
Monday, October 24, 2011, 2:25pm

Washington Post - [Full Article]

Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss tweeted that he is having surgery on his broken left hand this afternoon, a day after he injured it in the first half of Washington’s 33-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

It’s expected that Moss will miss at least a month of playing time.

Moss, who entered Sunday’s game leading all Redskins wide receivers with 22 catches for 284 yards and two touchdowns, suffered the injury while trying to break his fall on a play. He recorded two catches for 17 yards before he was injured.

Fantasy Impact:

Anthony Armstrong and Niles Paul should benefit and get more time at WR, however John Beck is far from a strong fantasy QB at this point so don't get too excited about these waiver guys. Jabar Gaffney looks to be Washington's WR1.
