The Vikings are making another QB change: Jaren Hall will start Sunday night against the Packers.

With playoff hopes on the line in a primetime rivalry game, Minnesota is giving the ball to the rookie from BYU.

With Mullens being very turnover prone —to say the least— through his two starts, the team will see if the rookie can keep things under control. This is actually a great spot for fantasy, with Hall proving in the preseason that he isn't afraid to take off with the ball, including his five scrambles in his last appearance. He can be considered a QB streamer for the desperate.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Vikings are taking a long look at whether Nick Mullens should be benched for rookie Jaren Hall.

Hall was the first quarterback to play after starter Kirk Cousins tore an Achilles tendon against the Packers in late October. Hall suffered a concussion on the opening drive of his first start, at Atlanta. Hall is now healthy and ready. The question, given the various injuries the Vikings have suffered (tight end T.J. Hockenson, receiver Jordan Addison), is whether Hall has enough help around him to overcome the natural mistakes he’ll make as a first-year player, the story went on to say.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Vikings are expected to stick with Nick Mullens for next Sunday’s game against the Lions.

Mullens became the fourth quarterback to start a game for the Vikings on Saturday and he had ups and downs in the 27-24 loss to the Bengals, the story said. The story added Mullens threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also picked off twice and he failed to convert a pair of quarterback sneaks for first downs in overtime before the Bengals won the game on an Evan McPherson field goal.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters in his Tuesday press conference that Mullens will start against the Bengals on Saturday afternoon. Mullens came in to finish Sunday’s 3-0 victory in Week 14, completing 9-of-13 passes for 83 yards as he led them on the drive that produced the only points of the game. The Vikings had also traded for Mullens, wanting a better backup for Kirk Cousins. Mullens recently came off IR but the team had already traded for Dobbs, who started his Viking career off hot but has since struggled. Mullens and the Vikings could also have Justin Jefferson for this week's game, which would give the QB a huge boost.

That was the message from head coach Kevin O’Connell at Monday’s press conference. O’Connell said that the team will decide between Nick Mullens and Josh Dobbs later this week.

Mullens replaced Dobbs in the fourth quarter against the Raiders and drove the team to their only points of the day. He was 9-of-13 for 83 yards while Dobbs was 10-of-23 for 63 yards in his fourth start since being acquired in a trade with the Cardinals, the story said. Schefter's post went on to say after watching Dobbs throw four interceptions in the 12-10 loss to the Bears, HC Kevin O'Connell said he will spend the bye week reviewing the best path forward. “We're going to take a look and really evaluate the inventory of plays we have of Josh,” said O'Connell, who thought about making an in-game QB change. Hall is back in the fold, as is Mullens, who the team also traded for, at the time to provide a better backup option for Kirk Cousins.

This trade suddenly makes a lot of sense since the Cards announced Monday they were going with a QB change in Week 9. Dobbs had started all year to this point for the Cardinals, and at the very least he's insurance for the Vikings. It's been reported Hall will get the start for the Vikings in Week 9, but look for Dobbs to perhaps get on the field in Week 10.
