Vrabel: Still throws Marcus Mariota can't make, and Titans will work around it.

Vrabel added he hopes the whole package can come back this week for the Titans and they can open up their playbook. It seems, based on this, we can at least conclude Mariota should be out there for Week 4 with Gabbert suffering from a concussion. The Titans will play the Eagles, however, in what will be a tough matchup.

The Tennessee Titans didn't feel comfortable with Marcus Mariota starting at quarterback against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4, but Mariota came on in the first quarter after starter Blaine Gabbert was sacked and left the game.

Gabbert was taken into the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion.

Wide receiver Darius Jennings is the emergency option after Mariota. Jennings is equipped with one of the three green dot helmets the Titans were issued for their signal-callers.

Coach Mike Vrabel has stated both Blaine Gabbert and Marcus Mariota will play Sunday.

Marcus Mariota was not very good Sunday, and he was really bad after a shoulder/elbow injury robbed him of some feeling in his fingers. He floated two passes that turned into interceptions and sat the rest of the way. He finished 9 for 16 for 103 yards, no touchdowns and the two picks, for a tidy quarterback rating of 37.4.

He said afterward he probably should have thought better of returning after the injury.

The story seemed concerned about Mariota and his injuries, and said he needs to get back from injury fast and figure things out in this offense because a lot is still new. A lack of precision as a key to his struggles. The story added this is a big season for Mariota and his future with the team. But owners will have to keep an eye on his status for next week against the Texans now.

Bruce Arians changes course, says Drew Stanton will now start at QB Sunday vs. Giants.

Arians said after the Washington loss that Blaine Gabbert would start. “It is no fault of Blaine.”

After looking good since taking over for Stanton when he got hurt, Gabbert really struggled in Week 15. He didn't throw a TD pass but did throw an interception among fumbling three times (losing one). Urban added in another tweet that Arians still thinks Gabbert can play but Stanton gives the team the best chance to win Sunday. This could put in doubt Gabbert's future status with the Cards as reports said the team was interested in bringing him back to at least provide some stability at the position with Palmer's status unknown.

Hearing the Cardinals have reached out Blaine Gabbert representatives regarding a contract extension.

Those who follow the team were pretty much begging for Gabbert to get his chance over Stanton. And since Stanton went down, Gabbert has played well. Palmer's status is up in the air in terms of playing next year, so bringing back Gabbert makes some sense for the Cards to at least have some stability at the position.
