Hurts got all the reps with the ones, but Sirianni also said it was a QB competition from the start of camp with Flacco. But regardless of the length of time it took to make this official, the news certainly comes as no surprise. Hurts is ranked as a low-end QB1 and is 10th on our list, but could also improve on that with the weapons around him, including first round pick DeVonta Smith, and his running ability.

At 36-years old, Joe Flacco adds some veteran leadership for sophomore QB Jalen Hurts. It's still possible that the Eagles draft a rookie QB in the upcoming draft to compete for the backup role in Philly.

Flacco will start vs. Chargers, the tweet went on to say. It seemed like Darnold had a good chance to play with the Jets on a bye in Week 10, but that won't be the case.

HC Adam Gase says Darnold is focused on playing the next game. That game will come in Week 11 at the Chargers as the Jets have a bye in Week 10. The Jets WRs are now back, but it's probably best to at least wait a week to see what Darnold can do with some weapons around him before plugging him into lineups in typical leagues.

The Jets have ruled QB Sam Darnold out of Sunday's game with a shoulder injury. Joe Flacco will start in his place.

Darnold injured his shoulder during Week 4 but returned to finish the game. There is little reason to push the young quarterback in what is already a lost season for the Jets. Joe Flacco will take over the starting job, meaning the Jets offense should continue to struggle given his lack of mobility behind New York's rough offensive line. Starting any Jet in fantasy is a risky proposition.
