Williams and Stewart not practicing
Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 4:26pm
Three Panthers running backs -- DeAngelo Williams (ankle), Jonathan Stewart (Achilles) and Tyrell Sutton (calf) missed Wednesday's practice. They were joined on the sidelines by quarterback Jake Delhomme (finger) and cornerback Richard Marshall (ankle).
Stewart routinely doesn't practice on Wednesdays. Williams left Sunday's game against Minnesota in the first half after apparently re-injuring the same ankle that kept him out of the Panthers' game against Tampa Bay on Dec. 6.

Panthers RB Williams questionable with knee
Friday, November 13, 2009, 1:51pm
Williams sat out practice Friday for the second time in three days. He was limited in Thursday's workout.
William ranks fifth in the NFL with 768 yards rushing, including 307 in the past two games.
Fellow running back Jonathan Stewart (Achilles' tendon), receiver Muhsin Muhammad (knee), tight end Dante Rosario (knee) and fullback Tony Fiammetta (concussion) are all listed as questionable for Sunday's game. But all four players practiced Friday.
Fullback Brad Hoover and safety Charles Godfrey are doubtful and haven't practiced all week because of ankle injuries.
Deangelo Williams has "tweaked his knee"
Thursday, November 12, 2009, 10:54am
Panthers Fullback Brad Hoover's going to be out for another few weeks at least, but running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart were out of Wednesday practice as well, leaving them just rookies Mike Goodson, Tyrell Sutton and Tony Fiammetta in practice.
Wednesdays off are common for Stewart, who's battled soreness in his Achilles tendon all year. But Williams absence was rare.
“He kind of tweaked his knee,” coach John Fox said. “It's something we'll evaluate day-to-day and see where it brings us tomorrow.”

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season, according to a team spokesman.
Other than Davis, the Panthers came out of Sunday's game without any additional injuries. Fox had no update on the status of the five players who were held out of Sunday's game -- receiver Muhsin Muhammad, tight end Dante Rosario, fullbacks Brad Hoover and Tony Fiammetta and free safety Charles Godfrey.
