Jordan Cameron slated to start for Browns
Sunday, April 14, 2013, 10:13pm

Cleveland.com - [Full Article]

Browns HC Rob Chudzinski and OC Norv Turner know tight ends, with Chud having played the position at the University of Miami and the two of them coaching Pro Bowlers Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow. They've identified Jordan Cameron as their starter for 2013, with Kellen Davis and Gary Barnidge playing reserve roles. Expect Cameron to take a big step this year and have plenty of production in this tight-end friendly offense.

Fantasy Impact:

Keep in mind the Browns also signed big WR David Nelson who could play some "move" tight end as well. Regardless, Cameron will be a sleeper (a fantasy TE2-type) in Cleveland's TE-friendly offense.

The Browns signed tight ends Kellen Davis and Gary Barnidge this offseason. They consider Jordan Cameron the favorite to start at tight end with Davis and Barnidge providing depth.

Fantasy Impact:

If he starts, Cameron will be a sleeper in Norv Turner's TE-friendly offense, though he'll need to improve his 47.6% Catch % (2nd-lowest among TEs with at least 36 targets).

A look at the Carolina Panthers tight ends:

Keep: Jeff King, Dante Rosario, Gary Barnidge. Cut: Jamie Petrowski.

This has been the lineup since day one, with injury the only thing changing it. Gives them a nice group of tight ends with complementary skills, but King’s clearly the lead dog in this pack.

Panthers TE Gary Barnidge appears to have wrested the starting job from Jeff King. Barnidge, in his second season, gives the Panthers a down-field threat and has excellent hands. He needs to keep working on his blocking skills.

Panthers 2nd-year TE Gary Barnidge working with the first team: He's a guy that's had a good camp. We like to keep competition going. There have been no final decisions to this point, but we try to reward guys who are doing well. It's not where you start the race, it's where you finish. He's had a good camp, he had a good offseason, and we're giving him a chance in there with the ones some.

On what he likes about Barnidge: He's got good receiving skills. He's got a pretty good feel in the passing game. He's becoming a better blocker.
