The NFL’s most prolific passing duo - Randy Moss and Wes Welker - may begin 2010 apart, as Welker battles to recover from his own knee surgery. That leaves a hole in the passing offense, one that second-year receiver Julian Edelman can’t fill by himself.
In addition, some offensive inconsistency in 2009 can be attributed to the inability to find a capable third receiver, with flameouts such as Greg Lewis and Joey Galloway as the glaring examples.
WR Brandon Tate is a strong candidate to adopt the role in 2010, provided he can leap over veterans Torry Holt and David Patten and rookie Taylor Price. It doesn’t hurt that Tate is as healthy as he’s been since before Oct. 12, 2008, when his UNC career ended.
This would skyrocket Tate's fantasy value, at least from what it was. With Moss and a healthy Welker, how much will Tate see the ball, though? The potential would be there if he's earns the spot, and Tate could have some value on your roster.
