Based on coach Chuck Pagano's comments earlier this week, the fourth-round pick should see an increase in his workload in the backfield that also features Gore and Robert Turbin. Gore is still the team's primary running back, while Turbin excels in short-yardage situations.
It's also important to note Pagano also said this week Mack is not ready to be an every down back or third down back. And then he also said this during the week:
"I think it'd be wise to try to find ways to get him the football and get him more involved," Pagano said about Mack. "I think that would've happened by itself had he been available the entire time. Marlon is a change-of-pace guy, he's a speed guy. He's an edge guy. When he gets outside on the perimeter he's dangerous, and we all saw that."

The only clarity we have here is that Chuck Pagano thinks Marlon Mack (maybe) needs more touches, but he doesn't view him as an every down back. Perhaps, the Colts view Mack as a satellite back only for 2017. Frank Gore is not going to lose his job unless he gets injured (which he never does) because he's an elite pass protector. That's huge for the Colts who have had an injured franchise quarterback. As for Mack, he's seen 11, 7, and 10 touches in his three games this year. Like Washington's Chris Thompson, he'll likely need to remain extremely efficient with his touches to be fantasy relevant each week with Gore still in the picture.
