Marion Barber did not practice but better

Marion Barber did not practice, which was expected, but he did take part in the morning walkthrough.

Barber has a swollen bursa sac in his left knee. He was slowed earlier this season with a quadriceps pull, too. Coach Wade Phillips said Barber did not further injure the knee in Saturday's win against Philadelphia.

"If there's any way he can play in the game I think he will," Phillips said. "And I think he's better, so we'll see tomorrow as far as practice is concerned."

Barber grew up in Wayzata, Minn., and attended Minnesota where he finished with 3,276 yards.

"I just sense with Marion he wants to play," Phillips said. "He's been mad at me the last two years because I didn't let him play in the preseason games up there. I know he wants to play there just from that."

Barber was the only player to miss Wednesday's practice. Sasfety Pat Watkins, who missed the final three games with a knee injury, was working with the special teams units again without restrictions. Same with right tackle Marc Colombo, who played for the first time in seven weeks Saturday against Philadelphia because of ankle injuries.
