Lions WR Burleson expects to play in Week 5

Nate Burleson said he expects to play Sunday against the Rams.

Burleson, the Detroit Lions’ No. 2 receiver, said last week he hoped to play against Packers, but he remained out. He has two catches for 23 yards this season and hasn’t played since injuring his ankle early against the Eagles in Week 2.

“I actually did some running on the field, ran some routes, caught some balls,” Burleson said of his activities today at the team’s practice facility in Allen Park. “That’s a good sign this early in the week.

“It was sore, but straight ahead, I was able to run pretty fast. Cutting side to side was sore, but that’s as expected. Just to get out there, put some cleats on and run routes is a good enough sign for me. In my mind, it’s a green light.”
