Lions RB Joique Bell is getting hot heading into the final six games of the season.
The tailback rolled up 85 yards on just 14 carries in Sunday's 14-6 loss. That's his best game since Week 16 of last season, and doesn't include his three catches for 30 yards, which pushed his total yardage output into triple digits.
And he did it while facing a significant test against Arizona's third-ranked rush defense, spinning out of tackles, running through others -- and at one point jumping over one.
The story went on to say that Reggie Bush is expected back this week from an ankle injury, but the belief seems to be Bell has made his case to remain a featured -- if not starting -- component. This seemed to be the plan from the start of the season, that Bush would be featured more in the passing game, so even if Bush can stay healthy, it looks like Bell is going to continue to get early down carries.
