Koetter: Bucs RB Ronald Jones' 'day is coming'

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter was asked this week about why second-round draft pick Ronald Jones has been inactive, despite Tampa Bay ranking last in the league in yards per carry (3.0).

"Listen, I've said it multiple times: Rojo's day is coming," Koetter said. "And this has nothing to do with anything he's not doing well. It's on me. It's on us. His day is coming. You know, guys can get drafted where they get drafted but my job is to put the 46 guys out there that give us a chance that week to win and that's always what we're going to do."

Starter Peyton Barber is only averaging 2.9 yards per carry.

Fantasy Impact:

If you have an available bench spot, Jones might be worth a stash ahead of inactives coming out Sunday. If Jones is inactive again, you just cut him with Tampa Bay on a bye next week. The Bucs coaching staff also indicated Jones isn't active ahead of third-string Duke undrafted free agent Shaun Wilson because Jones doesn't play special teams. However, Barber has provided next to nothing in the running game, and neither has Jacquizz Rodgers. It will be curious to see if this staff installs a package of plays for Jones in the coming weeks, where he is not asked to pass protect, another concern that has kept him inactive.
